I also noticed this behavior: much better performances in windowed mode than in full-screen mode.

Ive got an i7 6 core 16gb Ram and a nVidia 550Ti, i do get some stuttering but not much. I imagine at this point in a games developement its the graphics card in my system causing problems.

Generally its post alpha that developers fine/fix GPU stalls etc.
