    A man named CJ on twitch TV on one of the streams said "Yeah i need to work on the space UI. So far its fixated to a FP perspective only being able to focus on planets, suns, and moons." and haven't been able to find his name on twitch, so i think a meta post will do.

    I went and make a concept picture of an idea i had of "split panels" that on multiple monitors can work amazingly in concept and with single monitors, be efficient and useful.

    I will post the image here, seeing as this is the only way i can describe it without a wall of text.

    It is terrible on the colors seeing as though everything i copy and pasted into Paint using different sizes, colors, fonts, and images from websites. I do not own photoshop nor any other imaging program, but i think it looks good. I hope the devs will be able to do something better than I :D
    The Updated Overlay UI View(1.16MB)
    The original, But has now been revised

    The planets are in order from Greatest -> Least. I was also thinking of splitting the 'Metal %" into half to make a third saying "Favorites" but i don't think i could do it cleanly.

    REVISED: I have updated the Image because i thought of putting the planet selections closer together to give ease to the eyes and not compress the planet/galactic view. I also added the Total War style map (Thanks to Veta)

    Yeah, i'm not even sure if it was a PA Dev who spoke to me on twitch, but this is a reference idea that i hope the Real dev's will see, it's no art but its a concept nonetheless

    Side note: The Metal% is not planets with the most metal, it is the income YOU are receiving from it

    I'm imagining your concepted list to be a quite slim row along the bottom screen, replacing the buildings / unit selection bar.
    Like, when you zoom out "beyond" the inner orbit of your world, or hit a hotkey, the unit selection or building bar folds down and this planet index folds up at about the same size but filling from side to side.

    Alternatively a simple Sins-style empire-manager on the left side of the screen, top to bottom, with buttons to pin selected planets etc might work well too. There might not be a reason to list planets by most metal etc.

    You could have small bars next to each planet image.
    Gray = metal
    Yellow = energy
    The advantage of this is that you could even see real-time resource flow from that particular planet. Same as on your main UI at the top, but only counting the input from that planet. This way you could for example just hover over a planet icon to tell if it's running a defecit or surplus.

    With certain icons in the corner of the planet image for quick overview.
    Red triangle = hostile presence (detected, that you know of)
    Yellow triangle = potential threat, lot a unit in the past 15 minutes
    Nuke/biowarfare icon, flashing = known incoming planetary collision <-- Needs WW2 air siren sound :lol:

    Yeah, Only issue i see in that is the sheer number of planets may get overwhelming. I do not know how many they plan to cram into a galactic scale, whether it be a few, dozens, or thirty of them. So a sort of "look a large percentage of your forces are here, and there along with your most important income supply chains." and a favorite tool for specific areas.

    But it would make a nice UI if it was 2-3 rows for a system-scale
