    Well...

"...It's the end of the world as we know it." (...at least in the rts genre)

The RTS game developers have finaly figured out that the world is not flat

The rest off us found that out ages ago

Any modders that will follow up and do the SC World Map the PA way?

I did Australia for SupCom back in the day:

No promises though, I have no idea how the map editor works yet. I mean, you can obviously generate planets dynamically but what if you want a specific form and textures? We will have to see.

I think in one of the livestreams they said that you can juts put 3D model in there and say "that's a planet"... I'm not sure through...

Yeah I remember hearing in a broadcast they still have the capability to make custom planets despite putting so much work into the dynamic generation system. Earth and the Solar system will probably be one of the first mods for PA. I am excited to play the metagame in the Solar system.

They also said that the tools they use are very powerful. I'd be very surprised if you couldn't just make your own planet manually. Just paint texture and terrain. Though I'd bet non spherical planets would have all manner of pathfinding and gravity related problems.

Stop it, you are hurting my brain! Haha I don't think flat planets will be possible without modding. Well with the exception of the inevitable alpha bugs, who knows what could happen?

I (and someone else on this thread) think they said that you could dump any old thing into the game and make it a planet. Or did you mean flat as in two dimensional. In that case you're probably right about modding.

If that was pointed to me I just ment that I would like to see a (big) planet that looks like the earth. With all the familiar continents etc.

I do not know nothing about whether that is possible within the planet generator or not thoug...

It should be, if they weren't exaggerating the power of their editor/generator

Oh, the things you could do. A massive ring planet, with another locked in the center. That would be neat.

come release time, this is going to be very fun.
