Hi, sorry if this has been covered, but i did search, and found posts about server specs, but nothing on whether servers will be available to rent? i.e. COD has "rent a server" built in, though i have not used it before. Also, even if uber is planning on doing this, given that modding requires a custom server, does anyone know of any good hosts, as I'd like to write at least 1 mod and make it "publicly" available without it having to be approved by Uber and put on their servers etc. something I assume will be no easy task... I know of OpSource and Amazon who provide cloud servers, but I know im probs gonna need something with lots of RAM, and OpSource is fairly expensive, and Im not sure how much cloud servers are targeted at running games. Just curious if other people know of other hosts who can provide the level of power PA will require, at a reasonable cost? Mike
If that's the way they are going with this, then I assume people like http://www.multiplay.co.uk/ will host servers.
You should be able to make your own free server, but I wouldn't give Uber any ideas. Maybe people without the knowledge to make a server could rent one from a separate host, like in Minecraft.
i have a server rented for a game that's basically dying and have been looking for something else to replace it. it's hosted on Multiplay, so fingers crossed for that. i'll flip the switch as soon as i have the ability to do so!
