So I'm gonna lay it out. I got MNC a couple of days ago, and, while the lag is annoying, I am still having lots of fun. However, to be honest, I suck. And this is where you come in. I haven't got a preferred class, or any particular skill with any of them, so I am a blank slate. What tips would you give to a complete beginner, to start them off on the road to greatness? Do I pick a few classes and ensure I am well practised with them, or do try every class until I find one that suits me? What technical terms should I know? WHY DOES THE GAME CONSTANTLY REFERENCE BACON? Thanks in advance. GT: MCDayC
1. Bacon: Why not? 2. Have you played any First/3rd person shooters before? 3. Don't pick Assassin/Tank first thing. They have high learning curves compared to the other classes. You have to experiment with the classes to find out what you like and what your preferred role is. You also have to understand each classes roles so that when you go into battle you can fill it and not feel gimped when trying to engage something you're not built to take on. Assault: Pros, Bots Assassin: Bots, Turrets Gunner: Pros, Turrets Sniper: Bots, Pros Support: Equal against everything, Highly situational Tank: Bots, Turrets Just remember: If you don't want to lose in 2 minutes, kill their bots no matter which class you pick. If they're against your starting rock-it turret, you've already failed. Which is to say that its not a big deal, some teams can push you into your spawn, and quickly. You just have to remember these are "Pubstomping" teams that revel in fast victories. Either take this as an opportunity to practice against superior opponents, or find another lobby with people around your skill that you have the chance to do well. Just remember this: Its not your obligation to play for other people's entertainment, only your own. If you're not having fun, find greener pastures. And if you're getting frustrated, take a break and play a different game for a little while, then come back. Common acronyms.
Not a bad idea to try all the classes a few times to see if one sticks out to you as something that works well - also tons of guides on each class in the forum and the possibility of an "Adopt a Noob" program: http://www.uberent.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=5721 Because bacon is the pure essence of all things manly that was distilled into a highly killable and tasty flesh made for our consumption - if you are unsure what I mean, go eat some bacon.
I would start out with the Assault or the Gunner, then after learning the flow of the game try out new classes. There are a ton of guides in the help section of the boards, but if you have any specific questions I will answer them.
Welcome to the game. Thanks for coming to the people with experience, because it's gonna save you a lot of headaches (you'll still get plenty, just not nearly as much). 1) Stay away from Assassin until you are very familiar with all the maps, have played against a level 100+ Assassin as all classes, and can go beyond level 100 in Sudden Death Blitz alone as Assassin. Trust me, Assassin is incredibly hard to play unless you really know what you're doing, and she's not really as good as she seems. 2) Most people say Assault is the easiest class to play, and I'll admit he explores just about every part of the game. Personally, I feel the Gunner is the best newbie class to use. Just upgrade the passive skill all the way to 3 ASAP, and you literally do not need anything else. You are seriously a one-man army that can mow down anything. You're the biggest head for a Sniper, though. By all means you should try every class, but the Gunner is the easiest to pick up from the start. 3) Currently, there's no good reason to build a laser turret in Crossfire at all, especially on the 360 version. All the other turrets have their uses, but for actual firepower on local stuff, the rockets are ideal. Don't stress too much about turrets, though. All you need is enough to keep out potential bots (generally one rocket per bot lane). 4) Bacon is just awesome. Did you not know this? Everybody loves bacon. If you happen to find a juicy slab of bacon, you just run right to it and feel the greasy goodness flow through your body.
Remember too that the different guns are better at different things. The Tank's railgun is great for bots and does decent damage to pros, but is horrible for turrets. The gunner's miniguns are bad against turrets and bots but great at tearing up pros. It does however have a more limited range compared to his mortar. Try out each gun in different situations to know when to use what.
unless you played tf2's spy a lot gunner. hes the one class even new players have a change to kill experinced players as just make sure when you fight enemy bots/turrets use the mortar even when juiced they take a lot of bullets to destroy lvl 3 passive will give you 3 split mortars
I would recomend gunner. you just have told hodl down the tirggers. Protip=left trigger warms up ur mini so can pop around a corner already a mowing
yeah i know all im saying is if you can play spy you can play assasin PS. dont be one of the "cloacking? cool so i guess i cant di...*respawn*" assasins
I'm operating on the assumption the TC is reading each and every single post out of boredom and/or frustration. My tips... 1: The golden rule! It's about the teams and the moneyball, not deathmatch! Stick with your allies even if you or they don't have a mic, a lone player is pretty easy to kill. The moneyball is all that really matters. Escort bots to take out its shields(players cannot take out the shields: only bots can), then unleash hell on it. Prevent the enemy team from doing the same thing, but avoid getting trapped in a defense-centric mindset: turtling back in your base is only going to result in a stalemate at best so you should always be trying to push with your allies and bots to take out their moneyball. 2: Start off with Assault or Gunner. Assault is extremely flexible and balanced, without much complexity or major weaknesses. Gunner on the other hand is a player killer. Use and upgrade the minigun(s) as much as possible, they shred through other players very well at close range but try to use your mortar(secondary weapon) for bots and turrents as it's more effective on them. 3: Avoid playing Assassin or Sniper at all costs. In order to not be a burden to your team as them you need to be pretty badass and experienced at the game...Which simply isn't going to happen when you're just starting out. 4: Don't worry about bacon, it's extremely rare but if you see any you should pick it up immediately because it boosts all your stats. Churros are much less rare, but they recover your health and skills a little bit. 5: Whoever controls the center of the map is probably going to win. The juice dispensers and Annihilator are incredibly powerful! 6: Juice. A very controversial element of the game, but you should always have some if possible(just avoid using the juice endorsements on custom classes though because they're ironically worthless) because juice basically puts players into Super Mode where all their abilities are significantly heightened even beyond what bacon can do. 7: Expanding on the whole team thing a little bit...Avoid fighting directly if you're outnumbered. You're pretty much dead in those kinds of situations. Force the enemy into those situations by moving with the largest group of friendly players!
I think a Sniper is actually a class a new player could pick up if they already have the mindset for it. It's certainly not the ideal, though.
