the only way I'd play it is if everyone else I was playing with had to. As for single player games, I'd honestly have to try it for myself. I can't trash something this harmless that I haven't even tried myself.

Slightly related, I hated using the Wii remote.

I know where you're going with this, and no, the OR will not be ideal for competitive FPSs like CPM. ;)

I don't think it's designed for stuff like your competitive shooters. It's an immersion device, which isn't what people play Quake n such for.

could it not still work even if everyone had to use it within a competitive match?

That fanbase wouldn't want to. I don't think there's a single sort of "innovation" like this they'd support, it's all about t3h sk1llz

I probably would agree. I just think there'd be some sort of new dynamic with having to physically look around without your whole body turning that might work well with skill.

Of course, it would also slow down things a lot before people got used to it, and that right there would be enough to turn them off to the idea.

I play more games than just Quake :< even though the ratio quake:eek:ther games is like 50:1

Also, kval, you're clueless about comp shooters and their communities, so don't say stuff about it. You wouldn't assume to know things about quantum physics without a degree either, right? (no, I'm not implying quake is as difficult as quantum physics)

I can make assumptions on "entirely immersion based gear compared to a game where very little is about immersion as opposed to skill and competition".

I think those people miss the point of SSB.

Or they want to play competitively with no BS or gimmicks...

I can see why randomness would want to be eliminated (at least). that's why the comparison doesn't really hold well

If you wan to play competitively, why the f*ck would you play a game where the entire point in it's creation is fun and randomness

sometimes, you can't tell what will truly take off as a competitive game. sometimes, though, it's obvious.

(blanket statement of the year, but oh well)

I can do both. Makes my gameplay hours of SSB skyrocket.

Competitive is only really for people who make statements like this:

I swear, when I saw that post... My sides exploded. He went on rambling about how he's competitive with Call of Duty. Yeah... I stopped reading there.

I've used one (albeit the developer version, which has a lower resolution screen). It was ******* great.
