Remember all the pre-release hype around SupCom? I recall Chris Taylor saying something about the importance of tracks before the game was released, maybe at E3 or something. I recall he was talking about the epic scale of battles and maps, and how you'd have to find the enemy base because the maps are so huge and all that. One way of doing that was supposed to be that if you just drive tanks right to the front door, you're leaving a path back to your own base. So to avoid that you'd have to use forward bases, tricky maneuvering, surprise assaults, etc.

Of course, none of this actually made it into the final game, but I always loved the idea of it.

i really do hope they keep the art style like that in the kickstarter and the demos so far. i really like the simplistic minimalist look and was one of the reasons i backed it. i have played dawn of war games were they make everything super gritty and detailed but if we're expected to look at things on a planetary scale, i would think simple shapes / colors would be the way to go in addition to whatever framerate boosts we get from simple art
