It's been bugging me, It's really cool that you could name a planet and all as seen by one of the features from the Cosmic Limited Edition of the game. But wouldn't the creativity and time spent looking for an awesome name be kind of short-lived once its reduced to little more than space dust? Do planets respawn at any given point in time? xD
Planets are randomly assigned a name from the Naming Pool whenever they're generated, whats the best way to get a large and varied pool? Ask lots of people to contribute a singular or limited number of names. Planets won't respawn, but the names will be reused again at some point. Mike
Ha! Clever! never thought of it that way xD Also its a little mean leaving it unclear like that as a marketing selling point T.T
That's actually a benefit as well, by offering it as a reward, rather than openly to anyone, people are less likely to 'spoil' it by doing something intentionally crude or troll-ish. I don't see how it's mis-leading, it was very clearly described when it was added back during the Kickstarter after some public discussion. Even the description used 'Generate'; Mike
I'm assuming that the player-made planet names are not the only ones we're getting, right? While it sounds cool and all, we want (quite) a few "canonical" names in there, too.
Define "canonical", whats wrong with Goliath Prime or Basilisk Station? As said before, making it a limited reward and only having a limited number of inputs makes for overall better quality of submissions. Mike
All for it if Zerus and Aiur are a thing. (and canonical - ie. not-provided-by-players - not that I hate the player-made names by any stretch)
Heck no. If anything, it would be nice to see Thalassean, Barathrum, and Empyrrean. (Though whether any of these is feasible is questionable, from an IP standpoint.)
But what MAKES a name canonical? I player chosen name can be just as canonical as as any other, so long as it's the right name. Honestly you definition sounds entirely arbitrary, I think what you mean is that you don't want nonsensical names like 'Clown Planet A5C' Mike
