Sure, but it's rare to see a new mod that is purely balance changing survive more than a few weeks at most. The tough part is getting new players for a new balance mod - without a solid core of dedicated players it never gets off the ground.

Almost all the 'rebalance' mods out there for FA that had any legs and a larger following had additional features - new units, fixes for issues, redesign of game features, etc.

I suspect Uber is going to be on the ball enough so that any 'fix it' mods that get released, assuming they are more than just tweaking unit stats, will be assimilated into the core game.

Mind you, I'm not really sure what kind of license / agreement you'd need to publish under as a modder in order for a company to actually be allowed to use your content.

In all honesty, I wouldn't terribly mind adding a massive undertaking of a mod to my portfolio. Problem is with TA, while it was revolutionary, a lot of units are exactly the same, gameplay wise. The way I saw it, the only difference between ARM and CORE was that one faction had EMGs, and the other didn't. AND ONE FACTION WAS MORE AWESOME THAN THE OTHER.

Bulldog vs Goliath (arguably, goliath was better).
Intimidator had a longer range but was less accurate than Big Bertha
Core had Krogoth... Arm had no equiv
Arm had FARK... Core had no equiv
Core had Necro... Arm had no equiv
    Core T1 bombers were better
Annihilator vs Doomsday Machine (Annihilator had longer range, Doomsday machine fired quicker)
Arm had Maverick... no Core equiv
Core had Sumo... no Arm equiv

There were a lot of differences... that's just a bit I could remember off the top of my head.

There are 235 units in the game as of Core Contingency. Most of them are, if not carbon copies, at least very similar units if not in balance at least in how they accomplish their role (which is also similar).

You must admit there is WAY less variance than say, Starcraft's Marines, 'Toss and Zerg.

raevn I'm offended that you think I of all people, would say "We need the Krogoth."

You've not been paying attention to my posts at all :p

I would love to mod PA I just need to know where to get started :)

I know that - I would need to make models and the like but what format should I export them as, does the texture need to be a certain size if so what size?

I'm just going from several years playing Dawn of War which had some pretty interesting race mods, to seeing SupCom where all I could find on cursory glances were stuff sold as "extreme game changing!" and ended up just being rebalances.

Definitely way less than Starcraft but not a total carbon copy. You would be committing suicide by picking the Core on maps like Great Divide 2, where Big Bertha was crucial.
