Lol not if team 1 hosted.. and all of team 2 (who is across from them) would just join.. the hassle free 'UBER' way it was intended to Be
Any hopes this game had of becoming part of the mlg seasons died in the face of the reality that playing the game was, there can be no entertaining competition when wins are based on the willingness to abuse others.
In terms of a serious response there are issues that would need to be addressed. Mostly in game frames and performance. The of the most critical parts of the game, juice, has such an animation that during some uses the juicer has a seriously hard time being able to move and aim, it may be just for a few seconds, but during juice and at an MLG level those are extremely critical seconds. Shooting blanks, happens at random (most commonly with a juiced grenade launcher which is way too important to be overlooked), needs to be addressed Bullets do no damage, most often happens to gunner but when you shoot and even hear the sound effects of the bullets landing but no damage registers, needs to be addressed Those are really the most important issues other than popularity that hold this game back from being taken serious in a competitive light. Overtime would be turned off, 60 minute time limit, if neither ball is breeched replay the map (no decisions based on money, but a more damage done victory would count). not sure about juice buying, bot buying, turret nubs, or class limitations. Most house rules implemented for those features are handled accordingly to force a very large majority of the PM population into proper conduct for a competitive setting, but I could see MLG handling those settings differently if you have a room with 12 highly competent players
Many of the MLG games have their issues too. I think that the fact this is a near 3 year old game and that while it may have a devoted following, it is a small one. I don't really know how MLG works though.
From what I can tell MLG works off demand and profitability, which there is neither of for this game. I fully believe a full disc sequel to this game or a very well developed arcade sequel to this game that stays true to the core in game basics and play that makes MNC great, could be a breakout game and be responded to extremely well by the gaming community
Makes sense. If you are going to do it, make it for something that is widely played. As much as I like MNC, it really isn't the game that it needs to be for high level tourneys.
What sucks is that it could be because its so creative, so different, and that perfect mix of things other mainstream shooters didn't have. I really feel if this game had a better custom lobby function it would have had a better competitive following than shadowrun. A 4v4 with real lobby functions is far more appealing than a 6v6 with miserable lobby functions
Not to mention, the game has no LAN support as far as I know, and it's not easy to have stations with 6 Xboxs and 6 monitors.
My personal gripe is that it is a 12 person game, and you can only have 8 person chat lobbies...WTF, why can't the whole game sit together an chat?
Yes, this game was looked at twice by MLG. The first time was right around launch, and you actually had Nexy (one of the faces of the company at that point) playing in the first tournament with Deadeye. They didn't have a competitive team, but as far as I knew he still liked the game. At the time the game didn't have enough exposure or fanbase, and despite the efforts to get more teams and participants, it just seemed like there was no money to be made. The game wasn't solid enough for MLG to support as their own, however the second time around they were open to the thought, but needed developer support and they wanted the same changes we've asked for, despite not even knowing much about the game. The second time around was a group proposal that wasn't focused around MNC specifically, but act as more of a side show for events. Lot's of other titles were brought up, and Halo CE, Shadowrun, and MNC were some that they were fine with, as long as the stars aligned. Unfortunately, I knew that despite their interest, MNC was a lost cause. I e-mailed eka with their end of the proposal, and despite the fact that uber would support MLG and gave the green light to I e-mailed eka with their end of the proposal, and despite the fact that uber would support MLG and gave the green light to host their game, there was no chance in hell we were gonna get a patch. I doubt we'd get 40,000 from a kickstarter, but even hypothetically speaking, if we gave uber the money upfront for a patch, they wouldn't do it because they're focusing on other projects. Really though, I didn't see it happening even with the patch. Halo 4 came out and ******* tanked. MLG as a business wasn't sure what to do in terms of FPS or console, so despite the previous talks I had, various higher ups wanted to scrap it and focus soley on COD. At that point, I stopped trying...
So a couple tweeks to the game.. 4 more monitors and.boxes at Each mlg station.. there wasnt enough people because this game didnt come out on A disc.. another dumbass mistake by uber
i dont think mlg would support this game even if a big update or patch came out i doubt uber would get another tournament sponsored again either were beating a dead horse here and theres not much gibble left of it
do you know any links or references to the tourneys that were held? wanted to see some footage of how the games were played
It's funny to watch, but goddamn is it horrible. The Developer tournament as well as the fragged nation tournaments just look awful. I've had more organized pub games. Even the Jee Sports tournament looks pretty basic in terms of meta. You can find plenty of others off the ZyN channel, but this is the specific one with deadeye himicane nexy, his girlfriend, and others. Ironically named "We actually played Halo 1" meaning Nexy has actually played halo 1 while the rest just get **** on. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jk_1_JT8f1c
