    Hi

If players could build a space tower satellite that grows from geosynchronous orbit to the surface of a planetoid they would have far cheaper methods of putting units in orbit.

What would implementation of this idea in PA look like and how would it be equipped for the battles of the future? How would this unit be utilized?

I believe the phrase you're looking for is "space elevator".

I suppose it could be a "super weapon" of sorts... being able to channel the material of a planet into space at high rates.

I would call it the "Stairway to Heaven".

But seriously, you're saying it would be more cost effective to build a giant elevator that spans 100 miles instead of just using existing tech and fuel to put stuff in space? I'm not sure what the point of that unit would be if you could just build transports to carry units to space. Build one giant giant transport and ferry stuff into space then go back and pick up an additional load. This method seems far more cost effective then building a giant space elevator.

    Propellent is expensive.

Retardedly retardedly expensive. Using our trusty ol' Earth as an example; to put something in space, it costs $20,000USD per kilogram of stuff you want lifted. You lightly built human male weighs 80 kilograms. That's $1.6M to put him in space.

Then there's his spacesuit, and foot and water, equipment. Oh, and how much does a spaceshuttle weigh again?

Optimistic estimates for Space Elevators put the costs at $500USD per kilogram. Quite a bit cheaper. ;P

Given units have fusion power plants and all that, the cost for going into space will proably be reasonably easy to get in game. And then thats for game balance.
