It was said most people there don't get the tech talk.
It's because those that do get it, don't ask questions :D

Seriously though. Ab-so-lutely LOVING the peek under the hood. Seeing those flowfields and cost in action reminds me about watching real-physics liquid simulations, not more than a few years ago. Pretty bloody similar!

It is this hyped-up oldtimer's opinion that the tech talk in the livestreams can keep coming.

I really loved this update too, seeing in-engine stuff no matter the stage was exciting for me.

I also kinda felt bad for Jon at one point it seemed like he was just getting upset at the non-understanding of the commenters in the stream.

I also love the technical side of the live stream, part of the point of being a backer and following the game is getting to see more of this process.

I think between the early discussion on the AI development and the most recent discussion of flow field development have been the most interesting topics because of the depth you went into them.

I had never spent much time thinking of the game mechanics of an RTS game before, and following this has been very interesting. I really hope you keep a place for technical discussion of how the game works and keep showing early demos to show how the different parts of the engine work.

i also hope that some hooks into these levels will be avaible when writing mods

Yeah. I had no issues understanding what was going on... And I guess some people didn't quite get it. But I was very interested and I'm very glad they did all of that. I don't think "some people not getting it" is a good reason to NOT show something. As said above, there were a lot of us watching that weren't asking crazy questions because we were just watching/enjoying it.

On another note, still no gameplay! I'm so tantalized! Those planets were so flipping cool. I just can't wait to see tanks running around on them and blowing each other up!

And I know Jon is just wanting it to look really polished for us, because the first time you see gameplay, well, that's your biggest impression of the game. And the last thing Uber wants to do is let us down. So I'm guessing they're only going to show gameplay when the quality is higher than the kickstarter video. Hopefully that's in the next few weeks!

This talk could probably be had in the livestream thread that is still stickied.

A lot of the "_______ Livestream" threads could have been.

I didn't bother asking any questions, I just full screened and was fascinated by flow fields and planet generation :D Complex stuff. We are very lucky to be able to see it.

Agreed, loved it, loved it. I HAVE been thinking about all of these things before, and actually getting a proper explanation was awesome :D

I've got no background in developement and understood everything without trouble.
It's just logic and easy to get IMO. They went through too much trouble to try and make it easier to understand while it was already very logical though ^^.

But I love that they show us how it works in details and I certainly hope to see more of the tech, sometimes you need to know those details to understand the work put in the game and why a mechanism rocks that much :).

I wasn't that happy when they started saying they might not show stuff like this in the futur though. Please do show us more of that stuff, we aren't as stupid (in average xD) as some might believe ! :)
