Hey Xbox folk! Need help!

I am trying to change my Gamertag, but the tag I want is in use. However, the tag will not accept messages or Friend Requests, which leads me to believe that it is an old original Xbox tag.

Has anyone, or does anyone know someone who has had success getting old GTs released?

I've seen a lot of these unique GT / empty accounts before. My friend told me and I don't know if it's true but you need to buy it from them if you want it. Probably some BS.

Btw, what're these empty accounts anyway? Why do they exist?

that was 2011... theres only one guy i know who actually got a gamertag of what he wanted and the account expired or something..
Ive been trying to get feedle now for 4 years and some jerk off with a silver has it and never uses it..

Hence my old gamertag was changed from drunken feedle since people found it offensive yet smokeblunts420dopeface is not. (no offense to the pot lovers but this is an example)
