please do not post any thing on the wikia site with out it being from PA and do not use other games as "in-game" examples. reminding people that we discourage advertising of games on wikia sites.
Yes i did, but i took it off-line again because spambots were the only contributers. Apparently people prefer a cluttered forum with heated debates over a sober and objective evaluation of possible approaches.
I made one. No contribs though, but at least there are no spambots yet. http://www.annihilationwiki.com
Thats not difficult, not to have spambots in a wiki which was just set up yesterday. Wait a few days until it is listed in search engines, and you will have fun with dealing with spambots. I promise you, until the game is published, that wiki will stay pretty much empty. And if the game is published, either the server will be overburdened or the community will go for a different wiki. It's most likely, that Uber will set up an official wiki under wiki.planetaryannihilation.com or alike.
Spam bots could easily be avoided, also what's with the links to those completly unrelated wikis? Doesn't really make much sense to me.
It's been live for a few weeks and is indexed in Google, as a cursory G search would have shown you. There are plenty of extensions for Mediawiki which can essentially cut spambot signups to nothing. I run the Path of Exile wiki and was doing 50k pageviews a day with no spambot problems at all back in December. That was also on a very low tier shared host, this is sitting on a VPS which is scalable all the way up to a fully dedicated server. I'm interested in running community sites, so I set those up recently and am interlinking a little bit just to get them registered with search engines. Can remove them without a problem though if people don't like it.
Sure, why not, but I mostly ment the type of game, as RTS/turn based links to games would've made more sense to me. I don't really mind honestly.
I'll remove 'em anyway. No point creating community resources if parts of the site rub the community the wrong way.
