    D-Gun
    2 syllables.
    Hard consonants are catchy.

Call it stuff whatever you want, but if you want it to stick, make it short, simple and self explanatory.

when you clicked on Engineers in Command & Conquer they would have these silly little phrases in a nerdy voice like "I've got the knowledge".

Maybe these "fabbers" should beep knowingly like Wall-E when you select them. Probably a terrible idea.

    Arm had Farks......

Something similiar? Erectors would mean constant comedy though.

    Optical Welders.

    OW for short.

"I'm from the other team and I'm here to help!"

It's a J. Ringo reference for double win points.

That's assuming you have an issue with fab - which I don't.

I'm sure something will pop up, and won't likely be what uber names them. Communities always seem to come up with the most bizarre or lazy shorthand.

Likely if they fallow the TA style and have different frames each one will have it's own name, for bots, vehicles or flying or whatever units they decide on.

I thought that after a couple of weeks, I would grow used to it.

But frankly, the more I hear it, the more I dislike it. For some reason, 'fabber' just sounds weird and unpleasant, and each time I read it I wince. No other name suggested in this thread sounds bad like that IMHO.

Please, don't use this name in the final game.

Agreed. It just sounds . . . odd. (Fabulous?)
The simplest route is usually the best, and given the past game history, engineer and constructor seem to be the most sensible.
