I was thinking about smashing planets and a thought popped into my head. Say you smash a large asteroid or small planet into a larger planet, obviously it destroys all the units on the planet, but does it compleatly desintigrate the large planet or is there a giant, semi-molten planetary husk left behind. It would probably be easier for the devs to just make the two bodies annihilate each other and then they are gone from the map, but it would be so epic to be setting up a base on a planet and off in the distance you see a giant broken planet. Even more epic would be the ability to land on the solid parts and harvest resources, maybe build structures or not, I don't know. Let me know if there is a thread about this already, thanks!
it was said, that it should be possible that any planet will turn into a lava planet if hit by a big enough asteroid. Maybe, if the asteroid is too big, the planet will be split in several parts.
well i have a thread called "recreating planets" that contains this idea of building on a safe part of a planet. or maybe building a space platform, the thread contains a lot of useful info
wouldn't the core of the planet be intact, and become its own asteroid of pure metal, sense the mantle is liquid rock, thus cushioning its impact.
