We all know that the units in SupCom don't react to your commands instantly, which restrict micros a lot. Do you want to keep that in PA? If you do, how long you want the units to wait?

Wasn't that more to do with the network model than any kind of "Design Decision" made to limit Micro?

Why would I want my units to not do as they were told until after a short time? If I want them to do something, they should do it ASAP.

Gee no, I want to deliver an order and have my guys deliberately sit around doing nothing.

Imho the best solution to remove micro would be to force people to play with a pad.

... Is this a serious question?

The obvious answer to "How long we want the command delays to be?" is "no delay".

The only reason for command delays are hardware/software limitations, nothing else.

Anyway: We have allredy been told that the command delay in PA will be "Shorter then supcom, but longer then TA".

There is nothing worse in a RTS then when your units do not respond to command.

I doubt that, unless SupCom has worse netcodes than Spring, delays are not necessary for peer-to-peer simulation-heavy multiplayer games with 1000+ units.

I look at the poll and suddenly my faith in humanity is restored :)

Still, I can't understand that anti-micro agenda that some people have.
I'm all for having a really smart UI, units with explicit automated reaction... but dumbing down the game just to remove micro will just lead to a boring game.

I wonder if the guy who voted for "more" was serious or just trolling...

10 second delay in the free-to-play mode. 10 cent pay per click option to remove the delay. It's gonna be AWESOME!

Peoples opinion of micro differ, and so does opinion.

Operational - The stuff people don't want.
    Tactical - Micro
    Strategic - Macro

In my opinion, but then again some of the things you consider to be tactical, I consider to be operational.

    So where the problem lays.

I have no idea if Spring has better netcode then Supcom or not. But i do know that the way they did it in supcom caused the delay, it was not a design decision but a limitation of the code.

However it will be improved in PA. (Read following out of context quote):

Heres how it worked in supcom:

    Part 2: http://www.altdevblogaday.com/2011/07/2 ... nc-harder/

So that's the reason why the Core briefings always ended with:

    "DO SO NOW"

Units should react within the ping-time to the server.
So if you want quick reactions host the server on your own machine ;D

I hope you mean react to your own commnads. Not react to enemies with aiming and stuff depending on the delay.
Custom scripts running on your own machine are likely to have ping-time latency before units react to the scripts.
