Howdy, I'd like to request configurable UI support, such as the ability to move and scale taskbars, unit lists, and other UI elements. The main reason for this is to support multi-monitor configurations and to help with future display tech, such as Oculus and other VR gear. I game primarily in 5880x1080 resolution, and Supcom2 works fairly well at that, but has a goofed up FoV (easily fixed with super-zoom) and, more problematically, the unit bar goes to the far left monitor where I can't easily see it. I have a friend that runs on 3 x 1080p screens, with the left and right screens portrait (for programming an reading), and the center landscape (for gaming). Few games know what to do with this, but Eve (with its configurable UI) works well on it after he moves everything to a sensible location. If configurable UI is too much to ask, I'd at least like to see UI elements assume a 16x9 or less center screen and configure accordingly and not auto scale out to the sides indefinitely. See www.wsgf.org for more info, if you aren't familiar. Thanks, and I'm really looking forward to this game! PS - Also on my wish list are support for Oculus http://www.oculusvr.com/ and Leap https://www.leapmotion.com/. It is a cool time to be a PC gamer!
I know multiple monitors will have support for the game. As for the moveable UI, I don't think with the current system it would be too hard. I love the way Eve does this, and should be used as a model example. Just my 2 cents.
I think they have mentioned support for some of the features requested here in their webcasts. They're at least going to have multi-monitor support and multi-viewport support. They haven't gotten too specific yet on the extent of supporting features, but I thought I heard they're using browser tech for the UI/views which means it should be fairly easy to extend functional features like resizability, drag-n-drop, etc. Here's hoping...
As far as I know they're going with a webkit based UI system (whether they are using the CoherentUI package is a possibility), which means that your UI, while it may not be configurable on the fly (as in, resize things / move it around while playing) it will most likely be configurable via an HTML template page. And HTML5 has quite a lot of built in stuff for dealing with different resolutions.
If UI modding is at least as well done as in FA, it'll be moddable in. I made the UI of FA movable. (I hacked it in, it wasn't very cleanly done, but I know how to improve that) If they don't include it from the get-go, I might mod it in.
