Stick to the smaller systems, and you should be fine.

Well the larger maps will usually have more units and more players.

And that might start chewing into your ram quite quickly.

(I am no expert however, so if another can verify this then please do)

What igncom1 meant to say is that we have no idea what the minimum or recommended specs are for PA yet.

RAM Should be fine. CPU would have trouble playing SupCom/FA, but the requirements for PA might be leaner due to server/client architecture.

    What's your Graphics Card?

Nope, they're only recently started bringing together all the different core chunks, I wouldn't expect anything solid in terms of min/rec specs until sometime during alpha/beta, seeing as hardware testing is technically part of that process as well.

Our intention is to make the game scale well across a wide range of systems. What the lower bound will be is still an unknown. Your system is definitely towards the lower end of the range, but not outside the realm of possibility with the graphics options turned down and running with limited planet / unit sizes.

I don't mean to ruin your hopes, but you might want to work on a new computer. Intel mobile card is pretty much just a micro chip GPU and is not good at running any modern games and it even runs semi-old ones at really low frame rate.

The CPU is also extremely weak. While there are no minimum specs yet, it's safe to assume that you won't have a great experience without a new GPU and and new CPU, in other words, a new computer. You can wait for specs before deciding to upgrade, but I recommend a bit of planning ahead.

Unless you need it right now, you're better off waiting and saving so you can get a better computer down the line.

Neutrino said that you should have the graphic supports Shaders 3.0 to be able to run PA.

Nope, that one is worse than what you have. Much, much worse. The laptop you have is about a 1 1/2 years old. That laptop you linked the specs to is 5 years old. Both are from the same "class" of laptop, neither of which are intended for gaming of any fashion. You're looking at old laptops that were in the $300-$450 range new, and really you want a laptop in the $700+ range for gaming. Ironically a brand new laptop in the $350-$450 range can sometimes outperform even a mid range gaming laptop from a few years ago.

The best advice is still what knight said, wait until we have a better idea what the performance is, laptops will only get cheaper and better if you wait.

Also, if you're serious about it needing to be a laptop(and understand that you're paying a premium for the portability) you should look at ThinkPads, I got one this summer, a W530, and it costed me 1700$CAD, but it hasn't choked on anything I've thrown at it yet, even Supreme Commander FA.

The ThinkPad W530 is a fine business class laptop, though you're paying a premium for a workstation level processor and (less powerful) gpu. The IdeaPad Y series laptops are about half the price and will generally be noticeably faster for gaming.

Since the game is broken up into the host and client, there will be a huge separation in the necessary computer specs. The host probably won't need a video card at all.

Worst case scenario, a tiny PC will need to go online to use a dedicated server.

Start saving money now and buy a new system when PA is released.
