I heard no upgrade for commander, to stay true to the original TA probably. I just wondered if the com was going to be as weak as the one in TA or will we have a supcom style commander that is able to take on whole armies alone.
From what I've heard, the commander isn't supposed to take on armies (or have an active role in battle) but he'll probably be a bit tougher than the TA one which sometimes died if an advanced unit sneezed at it. But of course, we can't be sure until the game is done
The TA commander had poor HP but never showed it's hp to the enemy, and was equiped with the greatest weapon in the galaxy, the D-Gun. Even if it was balanced with some kind of modifier, the overcharge always seemed piss-poor in comparison to the feel and effect of the D-Gun, who even has a cooler name.
They will be stronger then the TA Commanders, since each Commander might have their own 'abilities', aside from Building, shooting, and having to generate some resources. What those abilities are? That is still up for debate.
If we're gonna talk about commanders, might as well talk about it all in the same place; viewtopic.php?f=64&t=43415 Read the first post, it's got all kinds of commander info in one place. Mike
Play TA again. The TA Commander might have been fragile, but the D-Gun is stuper effective. Don't get too d-gun happy, or you won't have any wreckage to reclaim! Many TA mods added units so far beyond everything else that the Comm(and even a nuke) don't have a chance. The TA Comm's weak point was the same as every other game's weak point. None of them had effective tools against air or for surviving air. That's partially the d-guns fault for not pointing up, partially the fault of air being too good.
I have done that vs a friend before, of course it was a slow moving gunship, but it was hilarious
