I was working for this software company and looking to get in the gaming industry here in Montreal. I talked with one of the Lead Designers at FUNCOM who gave me the advice: "if you're good enough to work in a regular software company, you should probably stay there".

I think the gaming industry is a calling.

Oh jeez, it's do or die for GPG again. This time even more than usual!
I hope they can pull through.

Me too. The people risking their pay to stay with CT deserve to succeed as does he.
The project mercury browser desktop is some interesting stuff. Really shows the ingenuity of Chris.

Actually, I wonder why they didn't make a Kickstarter about "Project Mercury! (Ah, and a game called Wildman too, to have a bit of content with it)"
This project Mercury is thing that interests me the most in this whole Kickstarter so far. If I had a bit less of a financial strain right now, I'd back it just for that. Maybe I'll still do it later.

They will fund Wildman if they can get at least 1100 people backing for the Project Mercury, sounds much easier than before. Hope they will make it.

CT has been discussing adding to one of the upper reward tiers "developer access" to Mercury.

From the sounds of it though, it looks like GPG found a way to save the company, most likely due to a publisher coming in to save the day. So I doubt this is actually the end of GPG.

That sounds a lot like they found a way to carry on. Hopefully even with Wildman, I liked what I have seen so far.
But KS canceled, not able to speak publicly about specifics and a new chapter in GPG history sounds like publisher.

Hopefully the game they will get out can be Kings and Castles.

IIRC CT said he needed $6-7M to finish that.
Only people with that sort of coin are publishers.

GPG isn't exactly negotiating from a position of strength here, would likely end up with another shitty deal, and realise bugger all profit even if it is a roaring success.

So I hope it's something smaller scale but more transformative than simply kicking the can down the road to let GPG survive another day.

7 million? What are they making the game out of gold?

Why not just sell the game in parts? Or hell go all minecraft and start selling from beta?
