Completely agree, especially in this game. Your base turrents are basically useless if your team is pushing the other team back into their base.

playing defense used to work in this game. but this game even though it has a small community has become very competative much like shadow run was.

basicaly from a tactical point of view it's best to keep the fight near the enemy base for the duration of the game. build minimal turrents saving your extra cash for turrents and juice later in the game.

i've found some of the hardest teams to beat are ones with level 3 turrents in their base during overtime. ofcourse if your getting rushed early on you really have no choice but to build some.

this is the very reason why offense is greater.

    Absolutely agree.

I play support, and I've more or less abandoned traditional "turtle" defense. If the opposition has any skill, you're going to lose your turrets and will have wasted any money you spent on "defense".

I use my support to set up forward positions to suppress bots, overheal team mates and toss airstrikes. Defense used to matter when pros could shoot the moneyball down, but now the only threat comes from bots and overtime. Keep the bots out and you don't need a single turret.

The only times I am able to build a heavily defended base is when my team mates are crushing the other team so hard they can't build juice and can't GET to the base.

That being said, when the moneyball drops, someone HAS to go to work on getting its shields back up. I've been in plenty of matches where team mates just seem to ignore the fact that our moneyball is exposed and I, as a support, can only do so much with 2 burnt-out turret nubs, my shotty, airstrikes and rage.

Well, you can't lose if you're too busy winning.

100% agree. If you ever find yourself just struggling to kill the bots that are already in your base. Chances are your gonna lose pretty soon. You can't take care of pro's and bots if the're already inside your spawn. At least most of the time.

Agree. Second best is a support and talented gunner.

Agreed, but I do think that the new support is better hard-wired for defense than offense.

You need a good offense to give time for your team to get your base up to par.

I will go on further to say that offense is better than defense simply because an offensive assault will always out-power a defensive turtle. A juiced gunner can easily wreck your entire defense. He is is not easy to CC because he can wreck turrets from a distance and has jetpack/deploy at his disposal.

If I see a good defense, it becomes my primary concern to make sure that every dollar invested into your base will be moot.

    Disagree. You need BOTH.

Two good offenses will basically grind on each other in the middle? No, not quite. It will go back and forth meaning one team is going to be at their base defending at least some of the match. If your defense is good, a couple of hacked turrets WILL sway the battles so long as your pros are keeping their attention.

That said, a 2.2 and up rock-it closest to your forward ejector is a GREAT way to earn cash as support, For one it hits pros that come from all directions but one, and will annihilate all enemy bots that make it past midline.

Yes, a good offense is important, but a good defense is important too because if your offense should fail for whatever reason, if your defense isn't present their bots will just walk into your base.

Yep, map control = bot control. At least, for the competent players.

disagree the other night I had an enemy team sitting in our base simply killing us and not defending, and while half my team was trying to rebuild turrets we had their money ball down and won extremely quickly as there was no-one stopping my teams attacks and yet their attacks were failing as some of our team were stopping them.

I don't think this works as a blanket statement because of how easy it is for one pro to decimate an unguarded base and take out bot lanes. There is a definite balancing act that you have to do on offense vs defense and I would have to say pure offense can easily get you nowhere the same as pure defense can.

Those players are idiots, playing offensively means controlling annihilator and bot lanes while controlling at least the middle if not more of the map. Those kids were just trying to farm kills and didn't care less about the bot lanes. If you're a good team all your money can be spent offensively rather then on pointless turrets. Just have 1 good assassin always clearing lanes and you can't lose, at least not until over time.
