Im wondering what ubers stance is on this? Would creating a 64bit only game allow for a less limiting experience? Are you going with 2 different versions of the game so people with 64 bit machines/OS can play a much bigger game?

I suggest adding a 128bit support and stop with the 32bit support

I would greatly appreciate a 64-bit version. It seems most Windows 7 OS these days are 64-bit.

I am fine with 64-bit only. If it does not blow up the traffic. But i am quite sure the uber guys watch their variables.

Current plan is to support both by 32-bit clients/servers will be far more limited in max game size.

You'll be running 64-bit if you know what's good for you.

I still have 32 bits, because im too lazy to reinstall all Windows 7 stuff :p Its a shame that installing better 64 bit version is so complicated.

@Neutrino, I think I will stay with my old grumpy Windows :p There's more chance for switching to Linuks than MacOS, Steam will bring more games to it etc. And... I dont have money for Apple stuff, its better for me to buy 10x cheaper and have the same, but without apple logo :p

Yep Apple is overpriced and barely has any games. Building your own computer is the wise thing but installing Windows 7 64-bit is not that complicated....

You can't be a "PC gamer" with OS X as your primary OS yet. Still a Windows world.

Complicated? Get Installation disk. pop it in. Install. Pop it out. I never had driver problems or anything caused by having a 64bit installation. :?

EDIT: I understand the lazyness. That's why I keep my video/image/music library on disk that is not the OS SSD.

    Exactly this. ^^

Glad to hear the focus is on a 64 bit base. If im not mistaken this will be the first rts game to do this. Basically no limit to map size or unit limit.

Linux distros are also usually 64-bit, so it's covered just fine there too.

I mean, its not complicated, but I cant upgrade from 32 to 64 easily, I have to reinstall 70% of my stuff. Still its much easier now with Steam, games can stay as they are, and saves are safe.

Move your saves to SkyDrive and make symbolinks for games to use 'em.
That way you'll have cloud for non-Steam games.

I would highly recommend people upgrade to a 64-bit OS if at all possible.

If you've bought or built a computer in the last, oohhh I don't know say, 3yrs? and didn't get 64bit... you shouldn't own a computer! Come on... 3GB of Ram isn't enough for a multi-tasking computer (limitation of a 32bit system)... Seriously... And if your into gaming etc you'd be installing a fair amount of crap every year that just slows sh*t down. Uninstall doesn't clear everything. Maybe its time to get into the habit of a format every 9-12months.

The only reason 32bit is needed is for older software that companies run and don't want to pay the cost of upgrades for... and in cases like these it's often possible to run something in VM/Virtual Box (we do and it works a treat).

    Enough said.
