Hey, After hearing about PA a few hours ago , I started promoting it in my friends circle. All fervent RTS players. Some allready heared about the game but here was one reaction I didn't expect. "It seems like supreme commander but more like a cartoon". I explained to him that the video we saw was probably just prove of concept without textures and such. But it did get me wondering, is there any concept art on how the final textured units would look like. If not , is it much work to show some ? Just to kill those notions of "it looks to cartoony"
Nope, the Visualization is pretty much how the game will, look, Uber recently put out some Desert Biome Concepts on FB; http://www.facebook.com/planetaryannihi ... tos_stream As for your friends, let them know that the Stylized Aesthetics are one of the big reasons this game is even possible for only 2 Million bucks, SupCom had a Budget of 10 Million for comparison. Also you should prolly show them this for good measure, Extra Credits - Aesthetics Vs Graphics and stress the point that the graphics aren't bad at all, It's just a simpler Aesthetic that will got a lot easier on the eyes in-game and makes things easily recognizable. Mike
Personally I also think the gfx is nearly there where it should. Although in retrospect to TA, most of the units there had textures on it. I'm thinking of the arm tank for example. They where not that detailed but they where there. In the kickstarter movie, you don't actually see textures but just bland colors. I believe thats the part he found cartoony , then again I can't assume talking for him. He just noted that to him it felt cartoony.
I must admit, that the first video graphics werent making me excited (the video did, but with its content not its graphic style ) The recent artworks though were great. Its a not really cartoony. Its like Lego. The units/buildings look like lego, but the terrain looks something between real and unreal^^ I wonder if the final ingame graphics will look much alike the renders or differently.
Well I spent a lot of time on it, I even have plans for a Scale Accurate Megalith; And it can even **** Bricks; Mike
What would be the cost to buy the bricks to buy that model. Is your lego model program able to calculate that or is this just a 3D tool render ?
I haven't built the Megalith yet, so I can't even give a guess on that one, I know the Monkeylord for parts along would be about 30-35$, but that can vary based on the actual cost and things like taxes and shipping so it's impossible to give an exact cost. Mike
