At which point it's a race to see who can juice and destroy the other team's core first. Has this been everyone elses's experience, or do I just have some crazy weird luck? I've been getting sort of frustrated playing because unless one team is way way better than the other, nothing in the play before overtime seems to even matter.
Most of the games I played tonight seemed pretty evenly split between overtime, and winning beforehand with only a few matches ever being lopsided. I think it is luck of the draw for the most part, especially at the moment since people are still learning the nuances of the game and experimenting.
Yea, for a lot of people this is pretty new to them (pretty new to me as well). So when going into a new game people tend to be very defensive and turtle up. So when both teams are playing defensive minded, overtime is going to happen. Though I'm pretty new I still like to push out and try to lead my teammates out of our spawn to fight the good fight.
Depends a lot on the teamwork involved, honestly. When I'm playing with my friends if we're being "serious" (and we get lucky enough to be teamed) we can usually push a side in pretty quickly. The problem right now is that a lot of people (chiefly the newer folks) are under the misapprehension that: a) Kills = winning b) Kills = the most money The first certainly isn't true, and the second is only true if you get a good streak going. If you kill a full wave of bots, and pick up the coins, you're going to net a nice sum of cash - and chances are, enough juice to later clobber someone anyhow. Winning at MNC is as much or more about establishing a position as killing your way to the top. Now don't get me wrong, an ultra streak handing you 100 bucks per is awesome if you can wrap the taunt in, but against good opponents, streaks are unreliable. Smart players make sure to attend to the bots - and the massive piles of coins often left by them - as well.
Well every shooter I've ever played has been plagued with people thinking every game type is TDM. I try to use teamwork, but if your with random people that just wanna kill people, you kinda have to try and carry their dead weight. And since I'm still a noob I can't do too well. Just not good enough or experienced enough to know what to do sometimes
It really depends on your team. If your team starts with 3 assassins and snipers, there is no way you can easily push nor defend. As a gunner I destroy turrets, kill who I can and help my stream of bots to walk through (and switch sides while doing so to attack the money ball from two sides). Once they are close to the money ball I go Kill Frenzy. I managed to get the money ball to 25% yesterday in only 5 minutes of play killing everyone who tried to get me away. So it's definately possible, you just need your team behind you to help you push the stream of bots to both sides and spawn bouncers (they are so annoying ).
As mentioned overtime is mostly due to teams not understanding the goal of the game. When people play to kill farm and don't play to push and end the game it takes a while. Particularly since only 1-2 people per team are actually trying to win things. Given an organized team and it can be over in 5 minutes. As good players go after that moneyball like a pack of rabid wolves once it goes down.
Once more people learn how to destroy turrets, it will get a lot better I think In a lot of matches, one side is clearly winning, but the other manages to hang around until OT just because the winning team isn't able to push through the turrets.
^_^ Lamer, I was gonna copy the thread I just made on the Steam fourms about the Overtime business, but instead I'll just copy my Post and tell my story here, which agrees with what you said ^_^ Overtime Shenanigans So, in this Scenario... Im playing Assualt and the team Im on is losing badly, but not enough for the game to end. Our Moneyball is at say 25% and the enemy is at 100%, shields never went down for the enemy in the game. SUDDENLY!!! Overtime kicks in and explosions are everywhere... I shouldn't be able to use Juice and walk over to the enemy Moneyball and destroy it in a matter of 10 or so seconds from Sticky Bombs and the grenade launcher. The team I was on won from only having 15%-ish health left on the moneyball in Overtime. And I know theres a option to turn off the juice ability for the whole server, but I dont want to see that happen. I think Juice should be deactivated during Overtime because it becomes a dash to the enemy Moneyball and just Juice it up for the auto-win. This also should be an option for servers, if they want to leave Juice on during Overtime then sure. But there could be other servers that may want it off just so you have to actually earn your victories instead of waiting it out for Overtime. (My story is done, your turn)
the game is new, people let it go into overtime for more overall playtime on each map, nearly every game i have played on pc has been put into overtime, consoles its always around 5mins a game, i bet once people start wanting to win and run as groups it will all change...
im sorry you just listed the 2 best classes at pushing bot lanes and the best at defending, the sniper can sit in his base the WHOLE game and push bot lanes....the assassins can run in and out without anyone ever knowing she was there, if she gets juice, say bye to every turret, if the sniper gets juice, say bye to every pro...
True, but that's considering they are skilled players. Most assassins just run into the wild trying to get a kill not even knowing smoke bomb blind turrets.
If you see an assassin with high amount of deaths, you know all he's doing is suiciding trying to get a kill. A good assassin will help push lanes and pick up a few kills here and there.
Juice dispensers are on an individual 60 second cooldown timer. Each dispenser is on it's own timer. If both machines were bought 5 seconds before OT that means everyone will have to wait 55 seconds before they can buy juice again. The only option to turn juice off is the option of buying it, you can still naturally acquire juice. Although Juice is powerful a Juiced pro is easy to control if you know how. In no time, once PC players get used to everything, you will be killing nothing when you juice up. Trust us this is a lot better then what it used to be...Juice dispensers had no timers. "Who needs skills and turrets when I can just keep buying juice." Juice is exactly where it should be. Overtime is meant to quickly end the game so there is a winner. If the team that has more damage on their Moneyball wins then it means they were either aware OT was coming or are playing the game the way it was meant to be play, Not as TDM.
i WISH I was on servers with overtime..god let me get some pratce in, let me actually be able to do something other then watching a wave of bots crash into my money ball and a full team of 6 camping my base hardcore. I'm actually very annoyed that right now all my games barley start before they end.
every game for me has been overtime, except 1 game where they had a team with about 4 tanks camping their own base, i mortared the hell out of the turrets and them, got around 10 mortar kills that game.....
I have done this a few times myself ... and yeah.. it just feels plain wrong. I think teams that are losing as you describe should definitely have a chance to come back... but it doesn't seem like it should be do-able by one player in the blink of an eye. However, one other way to look at it is, if one enemy player had stuck around to harass you, you might not have one, or if one rocket turret had been up it would have required you to spend some nades on it and you might not have won.
