    Hey everyone,

I emailed the guys working on PA and they said I should post this question I asked them on here. Let me know what you guys think.

"I know you guys aren't really wanting to have mid space battles or anything like that. But I was wondering, since there will be orbital units will there be a form of transporting units from one planet to the other, for example, a giant space port that has crusers that can transport like maybe 50 soldiers each to give support to a team mate or have an invasion force to attack an enemy on a different planet.

I was just wondering because it would kind of be a pain to start by scratch on each planet, even more if your enemy has a pretty good hd on the planet.

One other question. Will there be planet to planet artillery as well as just artillery attacking on the same planet. I loved those long range artillery on Supreme Commander."

    Please comment below.

Can't wait to hear from you guys

Bah, don't listen to him. There's always new implements of awesome just waiting to be discovered.

Though it's a safe bet that a unit which "looks like X and shoots Y and costs Z" has pretty much been covered.

Well in the kickstarter video it did show some Robots being cannoned and then then jetpacking down to earth from the moon I'm not sure if the same thing applies to planets cause the size differs thus changing how much Gravity pull there is :geek:

i would absolutely HATE that. imagine all of your planets have those and you are just bombarding everyone. that would alone would make me cancel my pre-order now if shields could take on a huge amount of them i'd be ok but planet to planet is way too far

I was referring to a planet to planet artillery if the planet was not that far from it. I wasn't meaning that you could shoot at in planet in the galaxy, that would be terrable.

Well if you take into account the idea of orbits bringing trans-terrestrial artillery into and out of range of enemies then its an actually interesting idea. If there's a moon that comes into firing range once ever 4 minutes maybe you really want to control that so someone can't just kick your butt from space. And the kickstarter vid did show Lunar cannons firing MIRVs of infantry bots. I think its in the realm of possibility at this point.

i would still hate artillery that does that. a good thing i think would be "artillery" that will store units that you can fire through unshielded areas

I hope there will be orbit to planet artillery (Put some artillery on a astroid or moon and then move it into orbit around a world to bombard it).

Considering that the unit cannon in the concept trailer can fire units from orbit to a world then i fail to see why they wouldent add normal artillery that can do the same (or/and missiles).

Basicly my view of "super units" in PA will be mobile battle astroids/moons xD. Image two worlds bombarding each other (artillery, astroids, unit cannons, etc) while war rages on their surfaces, epicness.

To answer the OP: You wouldent have to start from scratch when invading a world, just build a base on a moon and move it into orbit around the world your invading (even if they dont add artillery that can fire from it they will very likely add the unit cannon in the concept trailer, and most likely also other ways to transport units).

Btw, they can add space transports as mentioned in one of my old threads *Digs* viewtopic.php?f=61&t=40426
(All they have said is "no space combat" not "no units being able to move trough space in some limited fashion". The qoute is out of context btw, if anyone wish to comment on the idea make sure you read the whole message.)

Since the other topics are gone into the back of the forums and are inactive atm i will simply write my opinion on planet-to-planet travelling i would like to see in the game.

Easiest and fastest way would be a rocket with a limited payload for fast travel for 1 or few smaller units. Cheap but not very effective ( would be a fast expansion )

Second way would be a Orbital Elevator to build orbital units and a second type of expansion/invasion unit that is a "Carrier". Carriers would carry dropships that would pick up the units you yourself request and it would travel at high speed to the destination. This could be a mid-game precursor to making a invasion force. Of course could be countered by anti air batteries or orbital defences, unless they intend to land outside its area of operation.

Third would be by Teleportation/Gating structures. Would be extremely effective, but a risk to have. Would also have a high energy cost. Transportation would be instantaneous across the solar system. To make this it would require safe areas on both sides to operate.

What would be funny and interesting is that it could become a double edged sword aswell ( which would be a hilariously awesome addition to the game ), where you could capture it and send units through to the other planet instead, thus making it invaluable and a high risk operation at the same time.

This is how i would like the ingame system to be :)
