Nevermind, I think I've got it figured. For those interested. 1) Start a command prompt and navigate to \Steam\steamapps\common\monday night combat\Binaries\Win32\ 2) Paste the following command Code: MNC.exe Server HostileLobby?game=HostileGame.HGameInfo_PreGameLobby?bAllowJuicePurch=TruebAllowBotPurch=True?bAllowHazards=True?bAllowMascot=True?bAllowCustomClass=True?bAllowChangeClass=True?bForceRndClass=False?bCustomGame=True?NumPublicConnections=12?NumPrivateConnections=0?NumOpenPublicConnections=0?NumOpenPrivateConnections=0?bUsePeerNetwork=True?bCreateHost=True?bShouldAdvertise=True?bIsLanMatch=False?bUsesStats=True?bAllowJoinInProgress=True?bAllowInvites=False?bUsesPresence=False?bAllowJoinViaPresence=False?bAllowJoinViaPresenceFriendsOnly=False?bUsesArbitration=False?bAntiCheatProtected=False?bIsDedicated=True?OwningPlayerName=?PingInMs=0?MatchQuality=0.000000?GameState=OGS_NoSession?MapName=0?MatchDuration=2?OTDuration=2?ClassLimitAssault=6?ClassLimitTank=6?ClassLimitSupport=6?ClassLimitAssassin=6?ClassLimitGunner=6?ClassLimitSniper=6?ServerDescription=test -log=DedicatedServer.log -SeekFreeLoading -DEFENGINEINI=..\..\HostileGame\Config\DefaultEngineSteamworks.ini This will start a server with the default options and a name of 'test' (change the part after "ServerDescription=" if you want a different name). It also requires you to be logged in to steam to launch it, so on your dedicated server log in to steam, but set steam to offline mode.
The problem is that even launching the server from command line do not resolve the "LAN" problem. My server is listed under LAN using command line or launching it from the game. Tried to join it too and , even if in the shell i see that i'm correctly autenticated, game hangs up in the loading screen. The fact that the server is shown under LAN is an issue? What must i do to launch a dedicated server(on internet)?
I set up a dedicated server to run while I'm working today and so far it's still showing zero players. Weird, since last night when I was playing I was hosting and had my room fill up immediately and stay full. I wonder if it's not showing up in the server browser too?
Well people seem to be joining my server now. The command prompt box says there are 14 players though.
But you having my "issue" too? I mean, you find your server under lan too and people can join the rerver anyway?
Yeah, I don't know if the count ever goes down, which is why people are seeing servers with -300 of 12 spots available in the browser.
I'm working so I haven't checked if I'm actually having your issue. I assumed I was since the server sat vacant for several hours, but now that it's full I'm not sure. When I'm done working later today I'll check for sure.
Thanks for the replies guys. I'll keep my server open , maybe someone can use it. Think the biggest problem is the fact that i always see no more than 12 server at time. Well addressing it's beta goal, i'll try to do my part in it
Okay, I loaded up MNC and my server shows up on both the LAN and internet tabs. The first time I looked it was at the top of the internet list, but when I refreshed it was gone. I had to use my scroll wheel to scroll down past the initial twelve and it was sitting there at the bottom. Had no problem joining in and playing a match.
Anyone know anything about creating a server and once someone tries to connect something messes up and the server stops responding even though it's still up? can't figure out what's wrong exactly.
I think that's happening with mine. The first time someone tries to connect, they get the loading animation, but it just hangs there and after that you can't even connect to it anymore.
tried this over and over but it does not seem to work. I can see the server start ok but never see it in the game lobby. does it need a map name ?
Did you modify the server name to something with spaces in it? I had trouble with mine showing up if I had spaces in the name. Switching to underscores might help?
nope no spaces. I copied and pasted your exact command line and put it in a batch file but it wont show up in the lobby. I am running it from a dedicated box and thought there might me a problem using a copy of the server so I even bought a copy just for the server and reinstalled it . still no go . I noticed it says ? mapname0 dose that need a map name or just a o can you past what you are using now ?
I'm still using exactly what I pasted earlier. Do you have ports 7777 and 7778 open to your server? I'm still having a problem where the first person to connect gets stuck at the loading animation screen and after that no one else can connect though.
yep all ports are open . its just wierd , I only get 14 servers max also . the server is named rustys . its a dedicated box at a data center so there is no problems with ports being blocked or going thgough a nat router .
I think the server lobby needs fixing . I can connect directly to the server but it hangs on the loading screen. same config on my home computer and I can see the server in the lan side. hangs there too
