Too bad opinions don't have math.

    Autism:
Autism is a disorder of neural development characterized by impaired social interaction and communication, and by restricted and repetitive behavior. The diagnostic criteria require that symptoms become apparent before a child is three years old.[2] Autism affects information processing in the brain by altering how nerve cells and their synapses connect and organize; how this occurs is not well understood.

It's commonly known people with autism think in systems, numbers and above all math.

10+10 can be 5. It's just what you base your system on. and the one seems better, but that's just your opinion of what you think is good or bad.

None of the gameplay elements stray from games like Company of Heroes. So what's your point again? You could also say TA = COH in the far future. COH has arty, air, navy, land Just like TA has. They even have their own resource system too! Please try to comprehend.

Teamwork is "work done by several associates with each doing a part but all subordinating personal prominence to the efficiency of the whole" .

If you put it like that, everything is teamwork. Currently I'm teamworking with uberent forums, hardware companies, the power grid and everyone involved including the USA for doing commerce with my country which also partially helped earning this energy grid. All that, just to send you this response. It's the truth.

In TA, supcom 1, supcom 2, we had an option. Disable all units except air/whatever. This can be done with space units. Now tell me, how is this not a space sim? Also you know that wiki qoute (or whatever you got it from) also didn't make any sense as the modern space combats games have all kind of weapons which doesn't make it realistically.

    captain, I'm afraid so.
    Also, Keyboredxyz, yes.

The fact he calls it submarine commander really makes me think he has a deep opinion and knowledge of the game...

A tech-tree is not neccessairily a bad thing, but I think it could've been done else, like tech structures and not insta-upgrading entire armies without any costs.

It's like you didn't played the actual game yet.

The cost is risk. Investing in research stations/being countered.

Your opinion about opinions is your opinion.

Supcom FA is the greatest RTS, that is a fact, because it is my opinion.

How is this for feeding a troll? A nice fat steak with mash potatoes.

    Do you want some dessert?

Please stick to the topic and avoid talking about philosophy. Language is an imperfect instrument, treat it with respect.

Did you fail to see that normal math was the basis? In normal math 10+10 is 20. Its all depending on the basis.

... What? A quick summary of events thus far: I said that a spiritual successor is limited and cant stray from the ground concept, you tried to disprove that theory giving some examples on how much the game will be different, i respond that your argument is invalid becuse none of the things mentioned stray from the ground concept just add to it.

Then you make some nonsense post about company of heroes? Company of heroes is nowhere near TA in concept, they have a different system all togheter.

Offcourse you are? Was that a question? You need their work to post the message so offcourse its a teamwork effort, the whole internet is a teamwork effort.

Are you saying that space combat in itself is a
Homeworld and such are not space simulators, they are space combat games but sure as hell not simulations.

Im talking about the cost of applying the upgrade itself, if I suddenly see a army of 200 Rock Head's coming at me my first response would be to send bombers/gunships, if I ,after sending a counter-force of 100 Broadsword's see a magic, blue, gear-shaped light and suddenly 200 Rock Head's with AA weaponry, I think, well curse you, I just lost 100 gunships because of a few upgrade points, time and 200 suddenly costless appearing AA guns, the AA gun costs no money, not a penny, and for not even a penny my opponent just got 200 'free' AA units, in a mere second...

It's like stuffing a Abrams M1 with 1000 Nuclear Warheads in a split second, without any transport, just magically appearing nuclear warheads, FOR FREE!

Star Wars Empire at War, the Space-combat part at least, is NOT a simulator, it's just a fun version of the normal RTS ground warfare, but it's the same RTS, it's like saying Command & Conquer is a simulator series

I'm perfectly seeing that in the most used for of math in this world 10+10 = 20. This was a result of garagath saying having an opinion about something is math. I tried to explain that it doesn't work like that and that it depends on what you base your system for determining if a game is good or bad on. again opinions.

    CoH:
    synomenous:
    resource system,
    RTS,
    units.

    differences:
    Setting
    some features.

    PA:
    Synomenous:
    resource system,
    RTS,
    units.

    differences:
    some features.

Sums it pretty much up. It's very near TA. (in my opinion)

I'm saying PA can be a space simulator like sins of a solar empire is if you adjust the exclusions. A real simulator IMO is done with traditional space ships in it. No weapons. Like microsoft flight sim is.

the research tech tree offers so many advantages as opposed to the old style of teching structures to produce units. This style of game play is good but its more of a race to game a game ender and a sim city mentality then making a true rts experience. And while those types of game style have their place. its hard to beat the actual tru RTS action game play in Supreme Commander 2. for one instead of having to wait to tech a factory up to produce a different kind of unit to deal with a problem you encounter. you can simply increase the power of your unit or tech into the unit you need to produce if you haven't been foolish with your research points. so you get to keep playing moving forward and you don't have to wait till the much later stages of the game to enjoy any actual combat. Also in Supreme commander 2 you can micro units much more effectively. the only thing i like about the old subcom is the map editor in sub comm 2 we are stuck with what maps we have. but i did notice that even with the variety in FAF maps. most people still play the same ones over and over. i no a lot of people get in to one style of play cause they enjoy it. so really for those people they really just want maybe new maps and factions for the same game they already play and hopefully some graphical improvements. i like new styles of play that allow for changes on the fly the way Subcomm 2 did. and i'm hoping PA will incorporate the best of that as well as new innovations that will benefit smart players. But i challenge any FA player to actually put the effort into understanding Subcomm 2 and tell me they dont prefer it after they are used to the game style. I know some peoples attitudes will never change. whats funny is most of the people that don't like the changes aren't even really competitive with the top player base in they game they prefer. and to me those types opinions are really irrelevant.

Hi, Col_Jessep, I really wonder why you don't move the chess vs go thread and offensive terms thread into unrelated discussion, can you answer me? It is fine if you don't answer.

Sigh, thats what i have been saying, if you have the same basis, or the same base, then you can judge things. And we have a base for PA.

Their resource systems are completely different, the type of rts is completely different, the units are completely different.

TA and supcom its first (and only as far as i know) spiritual successor uses a streaming income and cost economy. They use Metal and Energy for everything, metal can be reclaimed from the battle feild and some things draw energy.
CoH uses a streamed income but a "one time payment" cost economy. It has specialised resources only used for some units (fuel for example).

TA and supcom are RTS games that focuses on large scale conflict.
CoH is a RTS game that focuses on squad based combat and tactical conflict.

TA and Supcom has three basic unit types, naval, ground and air.
CoH have ground, and another type of ground (tanks behaving quite differently then infantery).

TA and Supcom uses its iconic commander unit.
    CoH dont.

TA and Supcom has their special tier system.
CoH has a tier like system but not like the TA/Supcom one.

TA and Supcom use a physics engine which governs projectiles, explosions and wreckage.
CoH has intelligent infantery and a cover system, but no real physics on projectiles.

Does it still sound like they share the same concept? Note that these are just a few examples. Take a look at supcom, the only spiritual successor of TA that has been released, they dont change anything major between supcom and TA, they just add and improve things. And PA has been said to be a new spiritual successor of TA, and some of the same people that made supcom is involved. Do i have to say more?

Sins of a solar empire isent a space ship sim, not even close. Its a 4x game involving space combat.

Done. We had a busy week on the SMNC forum and I wasn't here as much as I would have liked. But that should be all taken care of for now.

actually the gunships if they had shields would still kill the tanks with AA providing you no how to micro them

Being good a something doesn't matter when talking about which game you prefer, having fun at it is important...

I don't give a damn about who won the fight, im not appealed with the way the fight changes, thats what im saying

Again i stand behind my quote. Luckily everyone gets an opinion even if it doesn't matter to the more important people.

As I said before, PA does not have to top TA or supcom. The creators can do whatever they want. From a marketing perspective you want to make the majority happy, but knowing this isn't about the money, but about the project itself they are free to make whatever they think is best. Even if it's a complete new game. -> would be rude though as people do aspect they keep their promises.

And I still think CoH looks a lot like supcom.
