We are still doing a ton of technical design but the implementation has started. I spent the entire weekend coding instead of researching, so things are definitely progressing. William and I spent a good amount of time today going over the technical design for the client/server stuff and the sim itself. Most of that was spent going over some of the details about how state replication is going to work.

Steve has continued to concept the terrain stuff. It's got a ways to get but we are getting some interesting results. Hopefully we'll get this beat into good enough shape to show soon.

I'm really interested to see how the terrain is coming along. Good to see weekly updates, keeps up the excitement for me.

I also like the weekly updates! Any chance we'll get the opportunity to see some of the design notes at some point? I know I personally would be fascinated by the state replication discussion.

    The weekly updates are nice!

Cany ou give any insight into how you're thinking about managing the state replication? Jus out of curiosity.

    Cool, thanks Neutrino.

These micro updates are really appreciated and give many of us a fascinating first time insight into how games are actually developed. They also give us contributors something else to look forward to now that I'm no longer logging in to kick starter every morning to see how the contributions are coming along.

Haven't been this excited about a game in years, keep it up guys :D

One small suggestion about the weekly updates: add a week number of some sorts. Having multiple topics with the same title is quite confusing.

Awesome to read this. Can't wait until you guys start revealing the game with images of gameplay or concept.

There have been plenty of good ones. This should be the god-tier one though. The counterstrike-source of RTS. The Modern Warfare of RTS. The one that sets the standards way beyond what we want from an RTS.

No pressure though. Just make it better than anything else ever and we'll all be pretty okay with that.

This is a topic of much debate. We have a plan we are executing against now but it's not certain how it will turn out. We have retreat positions for everything.

Effectively for each replicated property we expose a curve function across the network, only replicating those curves relevant to that client. I suppose that's the summary.

What do you mean by curve function? I had a Google, but the first thing that came out was the Logistic Function - which I'm pretty darn sure isn't relevant to engine development.

Funny how those games did nothing but lower gaming standards....
