What resolution would you use for your primary PA monitor? If your exact resolution isn't in the poll, please select the closest one.

I felt that TA and SupCom games played and looked best on resolutions around 1280x1024 or similar. Personally I'd like to see PA tailored for a higher resolution, or with better UI scaling.

Since I had to pledge for PA I am currently still playing at 1280x1024.
But I'll get a full-hd screen at the end of the year, so I will be playing it at full hd on my mainscreen + up to 2 screens with 1280x1024 as secondary screens.

I have confidence in that Ubers UI scaling will handle most resolutions.

It's all part of the plan:
    1) Create polls
    2) ???
    3) PROFIT!

In all seriousness a more comprehensive hardware survey, but not via poll , might prove useful to the devs.

Windowed, I like alt tabbing and with strat zoom screen edge scrolling is obsolete so it doesn't matter!

Thought my screen's resolution is 1920x1080, so usually about that big xD

Polls are nice. Everyone likes polls. What's your problem with this one?

This is a topic where a poll gives a quantitative and relatively unambiguous summary of (possibly) useful information, unlike some other polls I've seen.

Well, TA, SupCom 1, and SupCom 2 UIs all look too small on my 1900x1200 monitor, so I'm hopeful, but not THAT confident.

Not really a good poll. Way too many different resolutions missing, and way to many exist for all of them to be listed. My laptop uses 1600x900 by the way, so that's my resolution. I'll probably use my 1080p tv for a second monitor though.

Where is the option for 720p in this poll?

    My screen's resolution is 1366x768

    1366x768 is not 720p ;)

The forum allows a maximum of 10 poll options. I tried to choose common-ish resolutions.

As I said in the first post, if your exact resolution isn't shown, please choose the nearest option. If your resolution is much higher or much lower than the poll options, please choose the final option in the poll.

    1366x768 I would say is lower than the poll options. 1600 x 900 I would put down as similar to 1440 x 1080 (1080p). 1680x1050 I would mark as 1600x1200.

So far the poll shows that 72% of people use screens around the resolutions 1920x1080 or 1920x1200 screens. May be implications for the optimisation of UI/terrain/unit/texture design and sizing.

I know that, my secondary screen is 720p. I was just surprised it was not listed in the poll. I can understand 1366x768 is not in it but 720p is a quite standard resolution.

I think that this is relevant for the sole reason that TA and SupCom both suffer at high resolution - I could play Forged Alliance at 1920*1080 fine in terms of performance, but instead I play at 1440*900 (or similar) because the icons get too small otherwise.

So there should definitely be scaling of any 2D art so that it doesn't get hard to decipher at high resolutions.

    ...For smartphones.

I didn't realise many people would have computer screens of that size. Sorry if I was wrong. We'll see how the thread goes, if >25% of people are forced to pick the "higher or lower than poll options" choice then I'll reset the poll with a wider range of resolutions.

Also I did specify primary screen as basis for the poll choice, but thank you for detailing your other screens, that's useful information too.

More 'ish' than common. The most common resolutions are 16:9 and 16:10 nowadays, at least for the primary display. Yet you listed three different 4:3 resolutions. 1680x1050 for example is much more common these days than #2 and #3 together, and just as popular as the most common 4:3 resolution, 1280x1024. I also question how "popular" having 2x 1600x900 screens really is, in either landscape or portrait mode ;).

Ok, first of all "720p, 1080p" etc. are not really suitable descriptions for a resolution that you are using. The terms 720p, or 720p50, 1080p25, 1080i, 1080i50, etc., etc. describe certain properties of the content material to be decoded and displayed. 720p50 just means, that a video consists of progressive frames at a resolution of 1280x720 pixel with 50 frames per second. 1080p typically means progressive frames at a resolution of 1920x1080. There can be anamorphic material that is in 1080i/p but has a resolution of 1440x1080. But in the context of display device resolution, you never mean 1440x1080 for 1080...

1280x720 was a common resolution on Laptops and Projectors (and still is, to some extent). And for Smartphones: only the recent top of the line Android devices (HTC One X, Galaxy S3) have actual 1280x720, plus Nokia's Lumia for instance, and a few others.

Anyway, the most common primary display resolution these days is indeed 1920x1080. See also Steam's hardware survey for instance.

Thanks for that thorough reply Spooky, more to it than I knew.

Steam hardware survey is interesting. There seems to be a much higher proportion of people here on this forum using a ballpark 1920x1080/1920x1200 resolution than in the steam survey though, so I hope that this poll may still be useful to define the actual target population for PA.

I would play it at the highest resolution possible whatever resolution hardware provides.
