So I was at the IRC with a lot of the people and it sounded like quite a lot agreed with me, so I'll see if I was just lucky. I said that I would really love to see everything being developed in the same style that overgrowth and minecraft have been handling it. So as an example, when the kickstarter is over (very soon :O) I would personally love to see what they have done with the random generated planets (which they are working at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqDSh34VoPY) even if it's just seeing what it can generate. Of course this would be for the alpha backers. So what do you say, wanna wait til it's semi playable, or do you wanna have as much juicy alpha as possible?
I think they call this the 'Planetary Documentary', which just so happens to be hte last Stretch Goal. ;p Mike
I'm hoping to play around with whatever fairly stable (i.e. doesn't crash every 5 seconds) version as soon as possible, just to get a feel for where they are going and to help guide it to the best it can be.
Yeah, this. I got burnt out of minecraft before it was near finished and now I can't enjoy it at all. I'll watch the hype videos and any dev diaries for PA. I'm not doing that for Dishonoured though; too much to spoil. Project Zomboid is another game I'm avoiding till it's finished, even though I could play the beta. Also Kerbal Space Program and Cortex Command. Thankyou to alpha/beta testers who don't mind testing the unfinished game though.
this picture + your avatar + your mmkay = perfect XD well looks like the most people would like to see early development.
Whatever Uber finds best. Having alpha access is not an invitation to mess with their development model. If they think early alpha will help then I'm happy to be involved in early alpha. If they don't then I won't. Remember as soon as they start alpha they'll be bombarded with "OMG this is broken!" stuff. They don't want to turn that on without a good reason.
I myself are a Beta backer, not Alpha, but back in the modding scene we had a wise saying: in other words I think we should wait patiently. Either way, I don't think Uber will launch(or should launch) the alpha before they think they will get any useful feedback out of it. Now I do think people who pledged for Alpha are more likely to understand game development, and more importantly the notion of "work in progress", but that also could just be wishful thinking.
Hm, well yes but I'm just one of the people who have watched the kicktrailer thousands of times now, I ennjoy seeing how the content is developping and if I'll only have the trailer for the next 5-6 months I'll be able to tell the excact number of green pixels shown throughout the video.
I did not mean to imply such, I was just being silly[/quote] I totally didn't missread it /hides in corner
I chose the 3rd option. Of course I'd love to get my hands on something, anything, to do with PA as soon as possible. However, I don't want to see them bogged down too early, packaging up binary releases, and providing support to people who will inevitably have issues.
