    i wonder if we can take this as throwing asteroids at metal planets is just a waste of mass and energy

    Well... if it can survive millenia drifting through space, one weaponised asterid isn't going to destroy it. Build to last people, that's how planet destroyers should be.

    Yeap. It looks pretty busted up to me too.
    I doubt you'd be able to blow up Alderaan with it any more.

    Is it just me, or does the busted up metal planet look a bit like the second death star under construction?

    You can clearly see the first Death Star being blown into absolute nothingness with the "awesome" special effect.
