Asteroids hitting gas giants

    I really don't see why you would try to blow up a planet, jupiture alone took a hit as big as earth...

    I like the 20% idea, but unless you're going for a ridiculously smaller scale than RL (not totally impossible), 20% = some serious automation and time even on earth sized planets.

    Also, who says we can't build a gigantic pillar down into the solid core of a gas giant? This is Planetary Annihilation after all!

    a massive atmospheric firestorm knocking out all non-orbital units sounds about right to me

    My hope is that the Uber tries to keep moderately realistic while keeping it fun at the same time. I mean it's clear that they aren't going to maintain the aspect ratios of gas giants to their rocky counterparts (considering the vast difference) and I'm sure that the mechanics of such things will correlate properly.
