Hi, I suggest the following system for build assist, repair units and reclaim: enginiers should not be able to do this work directly, but they can build three kinds of support towers: 1. the build assist Tower: it has a low range and would be best placed near factorys. It can assist all kind of builds. 2. the repair Tower. it has medium range and medium health. it repairs units in range. 3. the reclaim Tower. it has high range and low healh. it reclaims.... all towers starts their work automatic. Like this you dont need difficult behavier-ai for engeneering-towers. You build the needed support-tower, thats all. I think it is also interessting for base building AND they could be nice targets near the front.
It is fixing nanotower micromanagment. It is for strategic decisions and for specify roles. At this point different units ARE needed...
euh... no. You could simply add a state [All|Repair|Reclaim|Help] to nano tower and it's done. No need to complicate the game. Perhaps the best way to do it would be to integrate it with orders.
There is a reasonable difference to placing different types of towers because you have to decide to increase factory speeds or create an area for your units to be repaired. But I don't think the distinction is important enough to justify the extra units. The distinction could even be needless complication.
All-in-one tower would be better than three lone towers but only if I get to choose what each tower does. I hated that my towers in SupCom done one thing when I wanted them to do the exact opposite. To that degree that I stopped using them all together. Maybe a reclaim option that enables them to reclaim wreckage for clean-up instead as an actual form of resource gathering?
Reclaim option is a must have on the nano tower, as well as the option to switch some behaviours off without affecting others.
