Hello forum , I would like to get back to the Artificial world idea. So I have read the idea and come up with a detailed idea on how it will work. So let's get started! Before you can construct a artificial world you need to have vast amounts of resources, so much that it might take 2hours before you have enough. To start construction you will need to launch a rocket into space with 5 constructors (if PA has this) and then you will be prompted with: Land: 0-100% Water: 0-100% This will allow you to decide whether to have a world with more land then water, or completely land or water. You pick you setting and you will see the engineers start constructing a small artificial star which will surf as the inner core of the planet. When done the engineers will start making the outer shell, this will look like scaffolding. When the frame is done they will start making the layer of metal to close it up. Now comes the part, when you decided how much water or land you planet would have the computer had procedural generated how the planet would look like. The engineers will now spray the green stuff slowly over the planet which will let the land appear. After about 2 hours of constructing the world is done. It seems normal when your enemy finally find it, but as battles will occur and the land gets deformed he will see the metal framework in some holes. There might even be holes that go trough the shell and the enemy will then suddenly see the artificial core, to his surprise he discovers that this world is not a natural world, but a artificial worlds that YOU the player constructed in the 2 hours long span. So to end this detailed idea, what do you people think of it? Give feedback so I can change it if needed :mrgreen:
Cool idea, but what does it add to the game? It seems like an expensive way to be able to park a big forward base at the location of your choice. You also assume that no planets are initially known about (the implication that they discover a planet) which means a system-wide fog-of-war.
I hate to be so disparaging but the game is called 'Planetary Annihilation' not Cosmic Gardener. I want to smash worlds not grow them.
Interesting, but planets are big, and should take a lot of resources. To the point that terraforming should be far far cheaper. Then again, taking an asteroid belt and coalescing it into a planet, as a way of saving metal compared to straight up building it, and maybe preventing KEW's?
About the Fog of War, if planets can be seen by anyone then I had the idea of building the planet behind yours. This way you will obscure the view of your enemy. Second idea would to have some kind of clocking field around it so other players can't notice it while it's been constructed. Regarding the purpose. Well what if most of the worlds are been annihilated because your enemy player is so strong? This artificial world will allow the player to have more space to regroup his army and prepare to fight back way harder! It's in responds of ''your playing field will get smaller at the end''. The artificial world isn't aimed to be a super weapon (THATS NO MOON!) no it's just to let give players more room to build and fight as worlds get destroyed. But to balance it, constructing one will require vast amounts of resources and time. 2 hours is my example.
Terraforming is out of the windows when 8/10 planets have been blown to hell :lol: About the size people: The planet will be about 60% the size of the other planets. So let's say it will have the size of a moon not the size of Earth.
So we use Venus to build Mercury (or Pluto)? Can I make it cheaper if I slam an asteroid or comet into it?
This. The only think I could imagine is to be able to build soemthing like a "deathstar", but I don't know if this is a good idea either.
Not really, the inner core of the artificial world will have a small sun but for the rest it will be hollow. I inspired my idea from the Forerunner shield world. The idea is nice, but this game is about absorbing mass and energy to create weapons to destroy your enemies. But if you build a planet, you could not absorb it's mass again, to build weapons. So...why build it in the first place? If you want a forward base, modifying a asteroid would make more sense. That would be a concept that I would like. Shoot an asteroid to a place where you want it and nuke your enemies with the weapon on the asteroid. Building new planets seems...odd, if the whole point about this war is capturing planets to drain its mass/resources for war purposes.
