    Hi

So this game is all well and good when all my friends are online but when im trying to find a game on my own its terrible

this seems to have gotten worse over the last month (black ops probably) but now its unplayable. The only way i can get a game is by spamming a load of requests to people under the recently met section on XBL

Is this just a Australia thing? as if i join a game with someone who hosts in japan all is well and normally we can get a game going and it slowly starts to populate

3 hours now, still nothing, and no its not NAT, crappy connection or anything, 30 other games work with no problem why shouldn't this one

last resort is proxing my connection out to the US or JP!!!!

    A frustrated MNC fan

i was just about to say proxy and see if it works. idk about it tho, maybe the devs could look at latency issues in slightly-removed regions like that. Australia cant be the only location experiencing this problem, i bet it has to do with what hosts the game claims are valid matches with your region. perhaps it is the game's fault for over-compensating an areas connectivity to other hosts.

proxy dont work tho, maybe its a common problem with the isp in that area. some isp do dumb things in different areas, so ive heard. for instance, how do you accidentally block XBL ports in an area, isnt that a bit noticeable for most people, considering the popularity of XBL?

Internet sucks in Australia. When your telecommunications companies or government decide it's time to replace all that copper wiring with far better fiber optics, you'll have less lag. The best you can hope for is that you can find lots of other people on your continent so you'll have folks to play with that you won't have epic lag with.

What confuses me though is that everyone I've played with in New Zealand that don't have such issues...and I've been on the eastern side of America since I've had internet at all...

its not an australia thing due to quality i bet. i live in texas, running the cheapest internet probably available anymore, at least im pretty sure dsl is only 1 step ahead of dial-up modem. i still connect fairly okay, tho i cant run multiple devices on it or it will seem like im on dial-up (ask Organous).

so its not quality, it has to be regional connectivity as set by XBL or the game's priorities, or its something to do with australia's chain of connection (there has to be a drop somewhere between their connection and servers outside). if most cant find games but can join with good connection, yet very few can find games too, then these make sense.

if you felt like it, you could call microsoft or look through their site. maybe they have a common thing with the regional connection and a way to help it. im not sure if the dev's have the game set to search for games by area, or if that would mess with the matchmaking and prevent someone who could easily connect to a game from doing so just because of region

Reading comprehension fail on my part

It'd probably be wiser if I read the whole message. I'll do that now

Sounds like all the games going on were full or there's ISP issues like Bro had suggested. The former happens with games that have smaller communities and the latter just happens all the time anyways.
