Given Uber's relationship with Valve It's a pretty safe bet that it's going to be on steam.

Will the game require steam? I just want to know... all steam does is act like a giant DRM and put rootkits on your computer...

From what I have read on this forum, reddit and the livestream they are going to put it on steam (greenlight it if that is valve wants but Uber didn't think that would be necessary) - BUT it wont be a steam exclusive, which makes sense if they are releasing it for linux as well as windows and mac.

This, Steam is great, but so is GoG and all the other digital retailers.

I recall them mentioning two digital retailers on the live stream, one had even approached them and they were going to talk to the other - one of them was definitely GoG but I cant remember the specific details for the life of me, sorry.

Long story short from what I have heard it will be available on retailers other than steam : )

Based on you post history sokolek; you want a multi-faction experimental-focused game with a techno soundtrack!
How is it possible for one person to be so out of step. Did you even watch the KS trailer?

Usually when you berate someone for failing to pay attention, it helps to pay attention. Like when you're posting in the wrong thread. One sokolek didn't even post in.

All they have officially said, was "They will look into it."
They will for sure have a digital release.
They will for sure be releasing the game from Uber Entertainment directly.

As for releasing the game from other digital content providers they are looking into that. They hope to release the game on multiple digital systems (including Steam) with the idea being that this is more convenient, and leaves people free to choose to buy the game from a provider they are comfortable with.

But they don't know for sure which they will ultimately use. No doubt there is a fair amount of red tape involved in getting a game listed on Steam or anywhere else. When they know more, No doubt we will be informed.

I have absolutely no idea how that happened...

I find steam to be a pain in the arse to deal with. If it was stand-alone like oh I dunno, Supreme Commander Forged Alliance before steam grabbed it, or Total Annihilation. That would be juuust perfect

Except with the game not going to retail I guess you could say....
