I listen to a lot of Bonobo. He has enough music that I can set a decent enough playlist to fit the tempo of the game I'm playing.

Depends on my mood, the game I'm playing, and what I have. My Zune for example has a stuff like techno and trance, metal, classic rock, and a bunch of Korean and Japanese music...

I usually listen to the music of the game unless it really sucks. In that case I listen to classic rock, metal, gothic and in rare cases death metal. Van Halen, Blind Guardian, Sisters of Mercy, Lacuna Coil, Evanescence, Metallica, you name it...

    Banned?

Anyway, I actually don't tend to listen to music per se while playing games of any genre.
If the game's OST is good enough, I leave the sound on. If not... I open up some video website and watch some movie reviews or play Top Gear eps on my computer.

but yeah, i'm pretty much the same as mazrix, between hulu and netflix watch instantly i almost never run out of junk to watch (usually only watch B-movies and such, save the good ones for when i'm actually paying attention)

I recently purchase a set of Turtle Beach X31's -- playing xbox with those strapped to my ears has completely changed the way I play. I bought them so I could soundwhore (listen for enemies) when playing MW2, but I've noticed that when using them on other games that the audio is exponentially better... i mean ten or fifteen times more enjoyable.

I recommend it to anyone who enjoys the audio in games, rather than listening to 3rd party music.

I have to listen to whatever is in the game. I feel like if I don't then i am not getting the full experience.

When playing shooter games?... The only game I play regularly of that genre is TF2.

    Propane Nightmares by Pendulum
    Invisible Man by Scatman John
Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger by Daft Punk
    Spy Sapping My Sandwich
Chaos Got Run Over By A Railcar
    and, the ever classic...
It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Dustbowl

Because of some recent videos, I am going to have to add Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now) by C+C Music Factory.

I do to not relax when playing shooters so it is nothing but game sounds for me. If the game comes with music I tend to turn it off.

I also quickly mute any players that have soundtracks coming through their headsets and hunt them in game. Easy deaf prey.

I'm with Hildogen, I listen to the game. Unless I am mudding, then I listen to my random collection.
