Of course not. There's also things like Care Bears and other fictional works that have no effect whatsoever on games. The Brony cult is the only thing that has this big an effect on something so unrelated. It doesn't matter that other things exist; the update would not have happened in the manner that it did if the Brony cult never existed.

I like everything. Even an elephant!

Since people don't seem to understand the impact of this, I'll put it in simple terms:

It was the first big mark of the TF2 team's newfound focus cosmetics and grind over gameplay. Choosing to slap a portion of your playerbase across the face over a mess you caused is a bad omen no matter how you try to portray it.

I just play the game to shoot people in the face.

Cosmetics are nice but mean nothing to me in relation to the game itself, and other people should be thinking the same way if the world made any sense. Sure it marks that they were doing something different with TF2, but it's something in the background in my opinion.

But derps will be derps.
