I'm not referring to level or skill level, but the number of players. Why is it that four out of five matches I join has teams that are up by two or three players? It just seems a little bit broken to me since even if I'm playing 24/7 I'll never be good enough to come close to standing a chance in a 2v6 situation. I can't very well escort bots, destroy bots, destroy turrets, and tackle six players by myself now can I?

At the same time, it's no better being in an unfairly balanced situation like that on the winning side. Fewer players means fewer targets capable of fighting back means less fun. How do people stand playing like that? This issue is reminding me constantly why I don't play as much crossfire :(

Lots and lots of players quit when things start to go sour.

That's very very obviously true, but why does nothing happen to balance things out? Usually when players leave the teams never become even again. You're left with little choice:

1: Remain in the game and hope for something to happen to even things out(hahaha).
2: Leave and find another game hoping the same thing doesn't happen.

Why not have something done like move a player to the other team when there's a player deficit of two or more? That sounds more pleasant to me.

It's random I guess. Example: Today I was in a game and a player from the other team quit the next game the teams were different but my team still had a full 6. The game after that, again it was different team, I was on the team that was down a player.

When I say a different I mean that the teams were comprised of different players then previously.

Definitely blows. It happens in just about every popular online team-based game. I suppose the only way to fix it is to not let players join sessions in progress .. But it wouldn't be practical. All games would be short and annoying.

Best thing you can do is stick it out and turn it around in the next round when the teams are evened out. ;)

Kind of an odd thing to complain about. I mean, you can't keep people from quitting, and most people wouldn't want to be forced to switch from the winning team to the losing team. Like others said, this is something that can happen in any multiplayer team game. Since it balances out the next game I don't see the problem.

Then we'll all be complaining about being moved to the team with an almost busted
moneyball which we've just spent 10 minutes attacking. No thank you.

TF2 uses autobalancing when the difference in players is >= 2. Yeah, it sucks for the person that gets switched to the losing team, but it's better than having the game ruined completely.

    which would you rather...

~get stuck in a game thats 6 on 2 and the team isnt going for the moneyball, and is farming kills off of you (and boy, the harvest sure looks plentiful this year  ) and if you leave you get put back in and the game wont rebalance teams and these guys are exponentially better than you or your team (even if your deadeye or hudson, pretend there is some way the enemy team could be so amazing that they are better than you and force you to play the n00b in the game)

~have the game balance teams when possible. both during a game when its 2on6 (which will probably be 0on6 once those two guys realize they are alone. and after the results of a game finds that one team has 6 players with the highest money, and the enemy teams best player has less money than the worse player on the winning team, the game will balance 3 best money players on opposite teams.

because you will go play another game (in my case, street fighter) when the first thing happens to you. when i get into a hopeless game and end up playing 5 ridiculous and unfair games, ill leave, and if i cant find a different game, ill find my street fighter disc into my disc tray...

How about a money multiplyer for the team with the fewest players that kicks in after
the match e.g. if a team has 2v6 thay are 66.66% down in players - so give them the
same as a bonus once the game is over. It won't work during the game as players will
make loads of money quickly only for more people to join the team.
Not a perfect solution by any means but it would make a very bad few minutes a bit
    more bearable.

How about we balance the teams before the game starts?

like I said it's not ideal.

But quitters throw pre-match balancing right out the window.
How about a penalty of some sort for quitters then?

attempted before. they will pretend their connection cut them off, by "dashboarding" and "powering off" and good ol' fashon yanking their frekin cord out the back.

I've always been of the opinion of ruthless treatment of rage quitters. Make them lose a whole level or two every time they quit, or make them lose a loadout, or something really harsh. Those people who quit accidentally will have to deal with it; but it shouldn't happen very often anyways so it shouldn't be that much of a problem.

Of course, this should happen after they fix connection issues. I've been guilty of quitting because of extremely laggy games.

    money=/=competent teammates

One competent and one incompetent player aren't going to be able to stop six players that all have juice and full upgrades. Also, who's going to be interested in playing it just for the money if all matches end up like that? I certainly wouldn't because it'd still sorely lack any kind of fun.

THAT would be lovely. But the way parties work in the game and how so many people ragequit when they are SHOT(let alone killed), that wouldn't work either.

Also wouldn't work. There's no easy way to distinguish someone pulling the plug from lagging out or having legitimate issues that force them to leave the game(legitimate being lag or issues unrelated to the game). Penalizing people for quitting is no better than NOT penalizing people for quitting, really. NOT adding penalties is easier than adding them, too...so which makes more sense?

again, if i wanted to rage quit (i never quit before a game ends), id dashboard, or power off, or just yank that cord out the back of my xbox. game will think i accidentally disconnected, i wont lose anything.

you apparently havent played MW2 have you?

Well, since most rage-quitters probably want to try to find a new game immediatly, make it so you cannot connect to a new game for 15 minutes. Those who accidently lost connection can probably deal with that nuisance, and it's still a problem for the real ragequiter that wants to keep playing.
