I feel there should be some way to pay for the DLC. The only thing I can think of at the moment is a Paypal account or similar, as it's the only way to offer a "name your price" for it. If people want take the gift, no strings attached, cool. I'd like to give something, if only a couple of bucks. It's the classic: If the 100 people give one dollar, that's $100. I think a band (I wanna say Radiohead?) did something similar with an album way back when. People could download for free, payment optional. Whattya say Uber? Wouldn't lose anything from making a Paypal, would ya? Oh. And HAPPY BIRTHDAY EKANAUT.
It's not a viable business strategy. It's fine for individuals to do if they already have a steady income, but this is Uber's first game. They need to have a solid foundation before pulling any stunts. I'm sure they wouldn't mind you giving them some money as thanks for this DLC, though.
Lol, that's what I'm saying. The first one is already free. But, if someone was willing to pay anyway.....
If you really want to pay for DLC, just wait for the second DLC. Or you could buy another copy of the game for a friend, or some merch once we finally have the store up.
Well, that's why it's optional. I'm in no way trying to guilt trip people here. I think it's clear where people's opinions on Uber lay. But, for those with the time and money, even a couple of bucks'll be better than nuthin. EDIT: Oh, I am pretty much guarenteed to get the second DLC on day one. Merchandise sounds better than the game, as most of my friends wouldn't really play it that much....
This type of marketing doesn't really work with add-on content. The way it normally works it that the "name your price" deal gets a lot of attention, and a lot of people try it out since it's basically free. It's a good way to get a lot of press. Unfortunately, this deal wouldn't be for everyone, since there is still the $15 you have to pay to get the game in the first place. Plus, they've already said it's going to be free. Can't really go back on that.
While the idea is honorable, Uber could get in trouble with Microsoft if they put up a Pay Pal donation option for a free DLC.
Sort of a joke, but kinda true as well. Not the same kind of certification as the game, but still a certification process of sorts.
Who says it has to be for the DLC? We just want to give them more of our money. We just want to tip 'em.
