The gay population makes up 10% of people and almost 50% of the porn is gay. There's something to be said for that.

You furry detractors are focusing too much on the gay/straight aspect. This whole furry thing covers a wide range of interests. There are plenty of interests on an average furry's mind, sex is knot the only thing.

I don't hate furry things (except insects that are fuzzy). Sometimes, I just think people use the whole 'furry' thing as an excuse to draw animal porn. Either way there is some good work out there, it's just hard to find.

Furries suffer from a strong yiffing stereotype, there is no denying there are people calling themselves furry for this alone. I reckon the artists making such explicit art have various reasons to do so: It gets the boredom off, it attracts a certain kind of audience who really appreciate it, it arouses themselves and/or they just think it's enjoyable to make. In the end, the subject of sex is just part of human nature, go figure by the amount of porn sites, erotic (web)shops and what not, furry is no exception, most fan-art or fan-fiction is erotically-tainted. Heck, the fact pretty much everyone around here knows Rule 34 says enough

However, most artist with this sort of art have amazing SFW art as well and thats the other side of the story!

@ZOoo00OOm: I'm not sure what you're getting it at or trying to point out. You make it seem Light My Pyre said something he didn't - because you placed it outside of context.

Pyre is saying it's ok to be want you want to be except when you want to support gay marriage. I personally have a problem with this statement because I have friends and family members who are gay/lesbian and seeing that only reminds me how small-minded and ignorant people still are.

It's alright and I'm glad you think like that, people indeed are very narrow-minded. In this case, Light My Pyre was actually saying precisely what you just said, unfortunately in a way which is quickly misunderstood.
