Sniper Gunner and Tank take skill in my opinion.

Any halo player can be good at Assault.

Assassin's role makes it easy to stay alive, gain juice, avoid deaths etc.

Support doesn't have many abilities that allow skill to show. It's either well placed air strikes and firebases or doing it's job correctly (healing teammates etc)

Gunner takes the most skill. Sometimes you need to hit A and RT at the same time

    Actually for most assaults,

X + Y = bomb a player hoping for a kill or ringout. 9 times out of 10 that isn't the case, in that situation use B to escape and wait for you skills to recharge again.

Does anyone know if Uber planned on juice being a core mechanic in MNC initially or if they just threw it in to patch up random issues like firebase nests? Surely they didn't just overlook the boatload of issues having juice in the game would cause early in development, right?

I think they did. It is kind of funny - a LOT of the people who make video games sort of suck at them. They try to make things according to a "vision" but really end up making them according to a "budget" so doing things like spending a bunch of time getting good is a waste of money - and no one is going to go home and play the game (for free) that they were just working on for twelve hours.

But I hear what you are saying - juice is just SO OBVIOUS. Maybe early on they just sucked at getting juice and were thinking "nah, there is no way that anyone will be able to do this more than 2 or 3 times a game"...but then again they have a reward banner for using it 7 times :?

More likely, it was some dev who sucked but had authority, and he liked being able to kill the people who were better than him once in a while. I blame THAT guy.

I dont like it when people use juice as an excuse for being bad.

"Oh he juiced on me, he has no skill."

You can be a skilled player, but using juice takes no skill. Remember why we took it off? Because people used it as a crutch to their K/D ratios while ignoring the objective.

Juice or the MNC layout is far from original. It's obvious that Team Fortress 2 had a lot of influence with the classes as well as building Uber (Juice) My guess is that was in their original idea.

Although taking out factors like juice (it's a variable) would eliminate chance/luck, I still like the concept of it. It'd be impossible to break turtling set ups without it. I think they could tweak certain aspects in order to balance it out like taking away the additional juice gain from meleeing bots. Or increasing the price of juice to $1000 or give it a $500 increase each time you purchase it.

    agreed.

i dealt with people juicing on me all the time
    .
some people are just bad and can't adapt to gameplay mechanics even after being nerfed once

Re: Korchanth is a great assassin

I actually think juice is fine. I was referring to juice machines where people who can't earn it via play can just use it real fast to kill people who are on streaks and such.

One other way to measure skill is to see who can effectively counter a juicer without using juice themselves. Containment play is one of the most overlooked aspects of this game, and it is one that thing that "juice machine era" pm players are good at and something that "post juice machine" era pm players have never had to develop as much.

Although plenty of non-pm players have the skills too.
