First Annual Survivitol Brawl: Rules and Registration

(I have no idea if a thread like this can be stickied, but I figured I would try with a request for such. Just want to avoid necessary posts and bumps if I can.)

Competition begins: FRIDAY OCTOBER 15th at 12:00 PM Central Time. Registration is open until MIDNIGHT of OCTOBER 14th.

Competition Duration: Until there is a sole survivor. There is no set game for this, it happens across ALL PUBLIC AND PRIVATE MATCHES PLAYED. This means you can "Raid" any game you are able to get into. Friday is the day this competition starts. It can last days, weeks, or MONTHS.

Read the list first: If you are already listed, please don't post in this thread unless you are withdrawing, volunteering someone not listed, or the name I have posted does not match your gamertag. PLEASE KEEP THIS THREAD CLEAR OF ALL UNNECESSARY POSTS.

Goal: There are two goals to this game. The first is to eliminate as many people as possible from the list by landing a melee killing blow on them. The second is to be the last person remaining on the list. You are encouraged to achieve both goals in this contest, though we can have a separate winner for each if neccessary.

Rules:
1. First and foremost, this is for fun and bragging rights. There are no prizes at the moment. We are governed by the honor system. Don't be a jerk. If you are eliminated, man up to it.

2. When you are listed in the official competition thread, you have ONE life. The maximum number of lives you have is ONE. You only lose a life if someone lands a melee killing blow on you. When you lose a life, you are ELIMINATED from the competition. Eliminated people's melee kills do not effect the players that are still active.

3. A Melee killing blow is defined as: a melee attack achieved by clicking the right thumb stick (on standard controls) which results in the death of an opponent and is displayed as a FIST in the kill-feed. Grapples, Swords, or Dagger kills DO NOT COUNT. If someone from this list kills you via a FIST in the killfeed UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, in ANY PUBLIC OR PRIVATE GAMETYPE, you are eliminated. Only the killing blow has to be melee, be as creative as you wish for the rest of their health bar. Assists do not matter (and are encouraged).

4. If you are ELIMINATED: It is YOUR responsibility to post in the competition thread about it. You should describe it in some detail and attempt to entertain the people participating. This is for fun after all, and in the end all but one of us are going to be humiliated. At a bare MINIMUM, tell us the following: What Class were you? Who meleed you? What class was your assailant? Did he have help? What map were you on? Try to tell us an entertaining story rather than just listing what happened as if you were filling out a form. If you do not fulfill your responsibility to post about your elimination, the duty falls to whoever eliminated you. (Don't be a jerk.)

5. Activity: You must be a decently active player to participate in this game. You must also decently interact with at least some of the community on the list to participate. I'm loosely defining this so the participants can confer and say "I don't think I've EVER seen this "LJ Tibbs" guy play," and figure out if we need to purge people from the list. If you play "a few times a week" or more, you will be fine. If you have to take absences from the console for more than a week or so, consider bowing out. Let us know in the competition thread.

6. Game Length: The game begins Friday October 15th at 12:00 PM Central Time. I'll post the thread the night before because I will be in class all day that day. Registration will be open until Midnight Central Time on Thursday October 14th. The game will last until there is only ONE person remaining on the list. The game will last as long as it takes to eliminate everyone else through melee kills, withdrawals, or purging due to the community consensus of a player's inactivity.

7. No hacked profiles or modified games. Play legit like everyone else. Failing to do so will have you disqualified immediately, ridiculed by everyone on these forums, and likely reported to Uber if the devs have not already posted in the thread and ridiculed you with us.

If you wish to participate, simply post your gamertag (NOT forum name) as a reply here. Feel free to attempt to add/prefer any of the players on this list so we can intentionally/have a better chance at match(ing) up with each other.

Send me a PM if you have any questions that are not answered by the rules. Lets try to keep this thread clear of anything but registration post, and my occasional bumping if needed (and if I can't get this stickied).

I'll play! Even though I don't think I've used the melee button since I played the tutorial . It'll give me something new to try out.

I swear, every time I think about meleeing someone, Shaun of the Dead comes to mind (scene with the pool cues).

Therefore, every time I melee kill someone, I will play Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now" as a requiem for my poor victim.

There is no "set time" it's just a starting time. Basically we play normally unless a player on the list happens to be in your match. Party or not. If you are able to kill them with a "melee killing blow" then you eliminate them from the list.

Actually, private matches ARE allowed, but everything else you stated is correct. There seems to be some confusion about this, so I went back and changed the introduction, adding a "duration" section.

Also, for those who are ELIMINATED: you can still team up with people who are still playing and help them get kills! Be creative!
