Just a quick heads-up: if an Assassin uses her Smoke Bomb and jumps over any of the four tall pillars outside of either base, she will take damage when passing over the pillar. While standing on top of any of the pillars, she will also take a pretty heavy damage over time. I'm assuming this is some form of trying to prevent players from leaving the arena, but if an Assassin jumps over the pillar and lands on the other side, it will also cause damage to her just from passing over it, preventing health regen.
I think it is intended so you don't stand "out of bounds" shooting down the ball from an angle where no one can hit you. Standing on the bot spawn locations on any map will make you take damage.
I can understand it being in place to prevent you from standing out of bounds, but jumping over it without ever touching it will also damage you.
I got up on top of one of the enemies bot spawns on steel peel, the one by the back entrance to the base, and by the time I realized that it was zapping my health, I was dead.... I figured it was just a 'gtfo' thing cause it really would be an advantage to be able to stay up there for any amount of time
The pillars you are talking about are the bot spawn factories. I always assumed the roof had high amounts of heat emitting from it, and damaged you over time if you got up there. They are very easy to get onto, and certainly not a glitch (I get on grenade III's just by using the tank's jet pack + silver speed). I actually use them as a walkway into the enemy base when the base camping snipers start lining the bot path with Ice Traps and try to turtle their hearts out. Buy juice > jump up to the bot spawn> Take 1 second of damage > fly to their upper deck > Juice while falling out of the sky > Death Blossom > Triple Kill > Ice Traps disabled
The bot spawn base drop-in on Grenade III is the single greatest thing to come out of that map, especially if they wanna double up on their Firebase/Support/RockIt daisy chains. Tank is definitely the best for that job, because of Product Grenade and Death Blossom, although against more annoying Support turtlers, they'll start bunny-hopping wildly (and die prompty), but their two Firebases and both hacked Rockit turrets will eat you for Monday Night dinner, though I guess it's worth it if your team can then take down the turrets unimpeded before they respawn and hopefully arrive at smoking turret nubs.
The bot spawner roofs are equipped with industry grade officially sanctioned heat vents that will burn on contact.
