I'm curious to find out if anybody else has seen somebody die mid charge and it still hits you. For example. Tank with low life, Hits the B button as he gets shotgunned in the face by a support. charge level 3 hits support anyway and said support is dead.
it's not a glitch, in my opinion, it's very realistic. Here's an example from halo you're standing about 20 feet from me, opposite team, i have the gravity hammer, and there's a warthog infront of me, I hit the warthog and it hits you and gives me a splatter kill. If a vehicle flys into your face, you're gonna die. Same as if a tank's corpse flys into you, it's pretty heavy man.
Well if it is on purpose, you should know that it usually doesn't actually count as a death or a kill for the person charging. I've also learned it works with Assault's Charge and assassin's lunge.
Here's something that I noticed that I know someone brought up before, but I think that it's been getting confused with this "glitch". I've only seen this happen with the tank, although presumably it could happen with the assault too. When the tank gets killed right at the beginning of a charge he can lose his momentum, but his body still deals damage if touched. So, for example, I have seen a charging tank die right in front of me. Immediately after he dies I walk into his dead, motionless body, and I'm dealt the damage of a normal charge and am killed. If I remember right I was there was no knock back, just the charge damage.
I dunno, I've had two separate occasions where I killed a Tank mid-charge: Once with a headshot and once with a body shot. With the headshot, he died and I ate the charge for a dizzy and tumble and got finished off by an Assault player. With the body shot, however, I finished off his lifebar and his body hit me and went floating around after the kill, and I took NO damage (and got neg repped for taunting him, too!). Doesn't really sound like a happy accident to me. :/
The problem with happy accidents is that they are still accidents and hard to replicate. I'd much rather have this be a feature that is designed to work in a specific manner instead of having it be the side effect of another one. As others have listed this 'happy accident' seems random at best. Hopefully once the host selection process improves the latency issues will also help to make this work more consistently.
It is really odd that this is working as intended considering players killed by this get no death added to their stats. I had a flawless game yesterday despite dying once to this "accident." Cool for me, but crappy for stat tracking.
Same, and lunges . I had something like this happen to me, but without Charge. I was facing a weakened Assault and lunged at him with the Assassin while he was shooting with his rifle, we both died at the same time...my body lying on his o.o...
It's also very inconsistent. I've had grapple completely negate the damage from charge, or sometimes they take the damage and not the knockback/knockdown from the tank.
And burns your cooldown. Also when a assassin lunge grapples or assault dash grapples me mid charge. I thought there was a rock, paper, scissors to the charge order....
