I know there's lots of them out there, but here's my idea for a new game mode. It's a twist on Crossfire that I find interesting. The name of the mode is Split-Fire. Basically in this mode there is a single Moneyball in the middle of the arena. The aim of both teams is to do as much damage to the Moneyball as possible within the 15 minute time limit. The team that has done the most damage in the allotted time or hits a certain threshold wins, and damage is tracked separately for each team. So if 100 damage is required to win and the Hotshots have inflicted 50 damage, the Icemen still need 100 damage to win and the 50 Hotshot damage doesn't count for them. The Moneyball is protected by a conventional shield, but with a few twists. The shield is deactivated by the bots reaching the shield deactivators just outside the Moneyball chamber. When the bots reach the deactivator, the shield is deactivated for that team. In other words, Hotshot bots deactivate the shield, only Hotshots can damage the Moneyball. Unlike in Crossfire, the shields aren't kept down by damaging the shields. Bots must continue to hit the deactivator to keep the shield down. Bots will scale as the match progresses just like in Crossfire. To win, teams must divide their efforts between defending their own bot lane and pushing back the enemy bot lane. Once the shields are down, they must also damage the moneyball as much as possible while trying to keep the shields down. Both teams can build turrets along the enemy bot lanes to help destroy and slow enemy bots. Effort must be made on the enemy team's part to destroy these turrets and protect their bots so they can reach the deactivator. It may also be necessary to have multiple bot lanes on each side. The annihilator would be centrally located in some way. Ejectors would lie along the bot lanes as well as be positioned near the central Moneyball to eject players damaging the Moneyball in close range. Bot spawners would be located by each team's bot spawning area. Constructive comments and criticisms are welcome!
Good idea, but the turrets shouldn't be on the opposing team's bot lane, that'd get rid of bots too easily
I have trouble visualising this in its finished form. Not sure I like the cross pattern deal, but I like the basic idea.
No more easily than the base turrets take out enemy bots trying to get in, and this is without an enemy bot wave distracting them. The opposing team would have to take out the turrets before their bots can make it through the lane. Six nubs is probably overkill, though, I'll grant you that.
Not a bad idea for a game type, but I'm not sure about the map setup. Seems like everything would just be one chaotic meat grinder.
It does not seem that different from the normal game to me. It will be harder to get bots through though, since there is only one path the opposing team needs to defend. This can be fixed by making two paths to the ball for each team (north/south/west/east). Also it might get confusing to notice when your shield is down (since the ball is not up or down) and when both shields are down madness ensues. This can be fixed by making two seperate balls. Oh wait, those fixes are already in the normal game. Now the only difference is that the bots are not in the same lane, which could be interesting, but probably is less so.
I can see what you're trying to get at, but once the shields were down, everyone would rush the ball, hence the gamemode would become blow up the moneyball the secon either team gets bots to it. However, I propose a solution! The shields stay up, but Bots can damage the Moneyball through it.
That's why each team has their own shield; one side's shield going down doesn't mean the other team can damage the ball.
I love this idea, im just worried no one will use the turrets because, lets face it, unless a support is there healing them, the bots will eventually wear them down. But i'd still love to play it before i judge it. Sounds like it would be one amazingly fun cluster-uck.
