I was just wondering, I came into some money that I hadn't fit into the budget as far as schooling and bills this month and have a potential to get $20 of MS for $10 and plan to buy Vietnam DLC for BFBC2 when it comes out, but that said, I was wondering if MNC is still active, and easy to get into? I always get sketchy about buying FPS or FPS-style games weeks after they have come out, because then you get kids that have hundreds of hours on you. I was really intrigued after watching videos, but I'm still on the fence. Also it's not $10 right? It's $15 of MS? Thanks in advance for any replies...(I searched for a topic similar to this, because I'm sure it's been asked, yet I couldn't find any.)
I'm partially unemployed right now, so I play this a lot. I can get on in the mid morning, the afternoon and the evening most of the time with no trouble finding games. As for "get into," do you mean the learning curve? It's pretty good.
I appreciate the reply, and yeah I suppose I did mean the learning curve. I consider myself to better than most kids, just from experience and time I put in to most FPS games, however reading more of the strat guides before I take the plunge I notice this does have DOTA/League of Legend elements, which Im excited about but at the same time weary. lol...I to am also unemployed but starting up school in two weeks. So I feel that this will be a nice change of pace from playing BFBC2. Also got Spiderman coming in like 2 days, so when the FPS urge comes calling I will have a nice Multiplayer game...I just wish I had someone on my FL that played it lol, could teach me >.<! That said does the single player or co-op mode rather do a good job of teaching people the basics? or would you say it's better to jump in head first into multiplayer if you're familiar with the pacing of DoTa/LoL?
A tutorial will get you up to speed with the core elements of the game. From there there is a single player mode called blitz where you can test out different classes and turrets against waves of bots. Then you should be ready for multiplayer. EDIT: You can also play the blitz mode co-op over live with three others.
If that's sarcasm well then cool...I left it at that because I didn't want to come off like I was bragging and say I'm currently in the top 100 on BFBC2, and it's not something I tried for, just happened. Also finished top 15 in a 10k tourney for BFBC2 in a 4v4 squad rush. That's what I meant by "better than most kids"...wasn't an opinion. But I appreciate all the helpful replies. I couldn't get in touch with my one friend who bought it but doesn't really play it. I just wanted his impressions but oh well. I'm finishing up the trail now, and if it's alright I'll buy the full game and start pwning it up soon, hopefully before a lot of people go to bed :X
I find this game pretty adaptable. I'm not a great shooter player, but I can hold my own on the game. And have fun. The tutorial's kind of sparse, but you'll get the basics.
If you're in the top 100 in BFBC, then you'll definitely play better than the average guy on MNC. Those shooting skills stick, no matter what game you're playing.
The learning curve is steep at first, because of all the very different things all the classes can do, and because you won't be used to the very out-of-nowhere deaths that can occur. At first it might be frustrating sometimes, but you'll learn how to avoid certain dangers fairly early on. And after that the game's an absolute blast. Plus population-wise, I have no problem finding a game in under two minutes during any time of day or night (and I play at some strange hours, believe me) My biggest advice is if you find yourself dying a lot to the same thing and feel like "argh there's nothing I can do, they're just going to get me with that every time!", change your class. Go in a completely different direction. Switch up what role on your team you were serving. Even if it doesn't work to counter it, you will learn more about the game at the very least, and learn to think about how to counter what may seem to be rigged strategies. This game is all about adapting. And bacon.
Well seems pretty fun...I picked up support first after failing at sin, then later when back to it and its awesome. My only gripe atm is earlier in the night it was perfect, now into the wee morning, it started to lag. I reset my modem hoping maybe it was just me...hopefully it fixes the problem, cause sin + lag = no fun :<
Get the trial? Its only 30 mins, but if your by your own admission pretty sh*t hot then you should have no trouble getting to grips with it in that short time and working out if youd like it.
