I gotta say looking at how great a job Uber has done with this downloadable game I can't even imagine how amazing their next big full on title will be. Hell if MNC does a great enough job maybe Uber will pull a Valve and give the sequel it's own disc. (Portal 2)
Orange box, kinda counts kinda doesn't... It's a package of retail games but the games on it are short and minimal... Still made of awesome though XD
I think a full retail game is in their future, but 1st they have to have some success in the XBLA market. I wouldnt be surprised if Microsoft signed them to exclusivity to start making games for Kinect or to make a full-retail shooter of some sort.
I think Uber said in an interview that they see the future being digital distribution. Portal had a stand alone copy just so you guys know, On PC.
I think he was referring to Still Alive. This game has been the ONLY XBLA game I have ever purchased. I knew I wanted this game since I saw it at PAX East, even if I didn't see it, the trial completely sold it.
They could just keep adding to MNC with expansion packs. As long as they're not too expensive mind. As XBLA games go, this has to be in the top 5 if not number 1. Couldn't have said the same if it were a full retail game. Not because it's a bad game but because they couldn't have justified a full priced release. 1200 msp is the perfect pricepoint/content ratio. I can see MNC2 (or whatever they title it) being a full game but only because this one has had such a great reception.
To clarify, Portal was a part of "The Orange Box" Release for both 360 and PC, Valve months later released a version of Portal by itself, and shortly after that Portal "Still Alive" was released for 360. The reason Still alive was not released for PC is that the PC version allows users to create and trade levels using the SDK. I think we can look forward to more XBLA releases from Uber, it seems they will do well in the digital download market. I do support the idea of a boxed sequel to MNC, I think a disc release with more classes and larger teams/maps would be interesting. But for now I think we can all agree that they have made a fantastic XBLA Title.
I think they should just head on over to Steam for any future releases, from what I've been reading around here, XBLA is limits what devs can actually pull off. Maybe the could release any new titles as Full games, but download only.
I really want to see them do Monday Night Combat: Season 2 as a full game. Throw in a career mode comparable to Madden or UFC: Undisputed or something to satisfy the reviewers (shadowrun suffered immensely in review scores for having no single player) and then make a more polished MNC online experience. Things like more varied announcer dialog and taunts, greater bot variety, custom game options and functioning private match lobbies, some improved netcode, greater personalization of classes (visually and functionally), and greater elimination of glitches would easily make this game worth a full $60 purchase. And after this first Monday Night Combat game they should be able to get the financing to do it.
If they make a sequel, will they call it Twosday Night Combat? Also, if it was a full disc, they'd need a pimpin' storyline for the main game, to go with it. Something about the Original Pros getting tired of being used as DNA banks and revolting. And in one of those crazy plot twist things, the whole episodic revolt is broadcast. MNC ratings skyrocket. And the originals realize that they're clones, and their Originals were completely Used Up of genetic material decades ago. And that they were programmed to rebel. I dunno, maybe I just spoiled the whole plot before it even got invented.
how about the Humans vs (Something like the Zerg) vs (somehting like the protoss) humans would have their normal bots - the bug type race would have bugs - and Aliens would have alien technology - makes it more unique and stand out more - just stating starcraft as reference
That would change the game WAY too much. Part of what keeps Halo, Gears, Resident Evil, CoD, MoH games popular with sequels - they change enough but you can tell it's true to the originals. I personally wouldnt mind a sequel but not for at least a year-1.5yrs as they have stated there are 3 DLCs planned. If a sequel was done I would like a REAL season mode. AI players vs Bots AND other teams. So some matches would be team vs bots. Unlockables could be things like Other team unlock styles (they have different armor parts - you don't unlock the team just their armor styles - as colors would be selected in multiplayer). Obviously you could go through story with friends too.
