I'm wondering if anyone else runs into this a lot. Sometimes it's easy enough to hear the sound of the Strike warming up, but other sounds sometimes block it out. What I am suggesting it maybe make it more obvious to anyone on top of the bridge that an Air Strike was placed underneath it. Does this idea appeal to anyone, or is it just me?
At first I thoght this was going to be a post about people lobbing airstrikes at you in panic when fighting them. I've had so many support attach an airstrike to me in such places as the side room in lazerazor its unbelievable. As for the bridge thing, I don't believe their should be a warning. Unless you're up there for the sake of using it as a bridge, you probably shouldn't be there as it is
People stay up there all the time, especially on maps like Ammo Mule and Steel Peel. Whenever I'm up there, I don't stay in one spot all the time like you assumed. I use it for traveling above ground, where I don't have to deal with Bots and being Ejected. Also, tactically it's an advantage to be on the higher ground. It's happened many times before in a way such that as I was crossing it, I was hit by an invisible Air Strike.
I don't keep getting killed by airstrikes, but sometimes I do. I tried to make this look like not a big deal for that reason. I simply wanted to know if more people had trouble with it, and I have zero answers, but three responses. I will give this topic a couple more hours and if people aren't interested in answering, I'll let it die.
Yea I think the sound should be louder because like you said sometimes other sounds overpower the air strike sound and you cant hear it, Most of the time I am trying to get map control and im fighting and a random airstrike kills me every now and then.
Personally, I think the sounds associated with things like the assassin in cloak, Assault bombs, and Support Airstrikes should be eliminated. I generally play with my TV sound fairly low, so I don't hear these things most of the time. I've killed people with under the bridge strikes and been killed. All in the game, yo.
I don't want to see a single thing changed about this. Throwing an airstrike beacon under a bridge is a critical combat strategy for the Support...just as it is a strategy to stay under a bridge to avoid them.
The area under bridges where you can throw airstrikes is limited, often they'll have to use 2 or 3 if they really want to get you and even then it is a gamble. Air strikes under bridges are only a sure kill if you are standing still. If you attract the attention of a support, just move around a bit. It is a good strategy, but what you don't notice are the bridge air strike that miss for random reasons. Like they just decided to move, not even knowing the air strike was there.
I dont actually mind this. Despite the fact they can throw down 3 wide-area Strikes at Level 3 and cover entrance and exit so there's no way to escape, it's not something I see as needing to be removed. If you take away this you might as well take out things bouncing off walls etc too because you could argue a similar case against something like that.
